Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The PO of my truck cut out the steel floor to install airbags and he never did. I took advantage for the last 9 months to install bags, comp, tank, shocks, trackbar, exhaust and other stuff. It was real nice to work on things with the floor missing. Now that all the hard stuff was done, it was time to put the floor back in. It was kinda hacked out of there so you will see missing pieces up front and one small part in the rear. I think that was to fix a bed mount. I added some braces up front to support the bed.

Here is a few pics of the floor install. I will finish more later. I plan to redo the rollon bedliner when all the metal is in.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Oh Happy Day, I picked up the doors from the painters!!! As you can see Art does not believe in short cuts. He made sure the back side of the inner door panels were (although it does not matter to me if there black or silver) He also made sure to straighten out and clean the drain holes at the door bottoms and spray a nice layer of rubberized coating on the interior door bottoms.

Making some more progress on the doors. Installed window seals and finished painting door panels. Once I get some glass setting tape I can re-assemble the windows.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finally sprayed epoxy primer on the bed - spent way more time setting up than painting (first ever effort with the hvlp gun - too easy!)
Cutting/fitting white oak bed boards is next…

Thanks - just like the first welding effort, anticipation was much worse than just doing it. This was just the cheapo primer gun, the real challenge will be color, but that's down the road a bit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got my clock square and installed. I didn't like the face plate I made first, so I redid it and got the clock face centered in the hole. Looks good enough for me. Still need to do the bezel and maybe a new lens.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Thanks. The clock is from a 2001 Chrysler 300M, the tach was in the truck when I bought it, it's made by Orbit(?) and the white face gauge kit I bought came with the stock looking vinyl face. I did have to trim the face and make some mods to the tach to get it to fit, but I think it turned out ok.

So a stock gauge with half sweep tach + about $30 for the clock, paint, and white face gauge kit and done.

<edit> The clock was $2.88 at pick-n-pull during the half price weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Gave the truck a bath yesterday and reset the passenger door. Moved the lower hinge inboard a tad and now the door latches as easily as the driver side. Also rubbed out the rear bumper where I splashed gas on it from siphoning fuel for the lawn mower.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I actually drove my truck Saturday for the first time since July. The aluminum head I had welded up seems to be fine! No coolant leaks! I need to bleed the brakes because I have no pedal at all. I had to do some pumping to stop.

I was just going to go around the block, but I was so excited I ended up riding for about 30 minutes VERY cautiously.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I put almost 600 miles on mine over the weekend. Also picked up a left rear fender from a guy in Columbus GA. Only problem is the shifter started acting up. Made the drive home interesting, shifting from first to third. Ive got to find a way to fix the three on the tree.

Good close-up photos could help out if that is possible. BTW I worked at the Springerville Power Plant a couple of years ago and lived in Eager. Small World. Terry

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

My wife got done with her garage sale over the weekend and after hauling 2 loads of stuff to Goodwill, I have my garage back. Pulled the truck back in and started clean up of the rear frame and suspension. Still can't work much outside, the rain seems to show up every time I try to start working. Good to be back out of the weather. Also, the 65 belair steering wheel I bought showed up in the mail and I cleaned it up. All the Chrome is almost perfect and the normal small cracks in the plastic should be an easy repair. I like it!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Today I took her heart out to get it all cleaned up. I found a number stamped on it that says 76. Does that mean its a 1976 motor? Its hard for me to want to do anything with it. I have been debating on building a stroked 327.
