Gas Treatment.....What Are You Using?
With less than 10% Ethanol added to today's gas. Is anyone else having problems if your classic rides are parked for any length of time? Are you adding anything such as Stabil for Ethanol or any other additive. Seems that Ethanol is doing a number on the older rides. I recently had to have my carburetor rebuilt because the gas was junk as it had sat to long without being started. Anyone else?

Re: Gas Treatment.....What Are You Using?
I use Stabil if my trucks are setting for a while. It is a great product, I have been using it for years in tractors and lawn mowers.
I also put Seafoam in my old vehicles now and then.

Re: Gas Treatment.....What Are You Using?
I buy premium gas, and there is a station that does not have ethanol in any of their grades of gasoline. Mind you my motor has either a 10:1 or 10.5:1 compression, so it needs the premium fuel. But most places dont add ethanol to their premium gas, so thats all I would run anyway just so it does not gunk up my carb, fuel lines, and tank when setting. Heres a fun little trick to try: put a drop or 2 of gas with ethanol in one hand, and the same in the other of gas without ethanol in it. Bet your ass that the one with the ethanol will evaporate away super fast, while the other will be there in your palm for a while. That alone tells me it snot good for my truck which will does not get driven every day. When I store it for the winter, it gets stabil added to the tank, and a bottle of fuel system cleaner added in the spring before a long drive, just to be sure to get rid of any varnishing.

STP, Chevron, Lucas gas treatment. Occasionally, Seafoam because everyone says it's a good product. I haven't noticed any difference between them.

Re: Gas Treatment.....What Are You Using?
This is incorrect. Ethanol free gas is available in a non emission county or from suppliers of off road use only fuel. If you are getting ethanol free gas from a pump you can drive up to it is more than likely in a non emission county. This is regulated by the EPA. It has nothing to do with the grade of the fuel.

Re: Gas Treatment.....What Are You Using?
Marvel Mystery oil is the only thing for me. I run it in all my vehicles, even my new 2011 vehicles. I put a quart to a tank about every 5th fillup. It does wonders on cleaning up gunked up vehicles. I only run non-ethanol gas now. I rebuilt a 283 and stuck in my 68. I put everything new on the motor, well, about 600 miles and it started missing like mad. I rebuilt the carbeurator and the new pcv valve had about 1/8" of gunk laying in it from running ethanol gas. Now, non-ethanol is all I run in all my vehicles. The miss turned out to be the original restricted distributor wire to an HEI distributor. I meant to run a new wire but got the truck running and forgot about it. Ran a new wire from the switch and runs like a charm.

Lucus fuel system cleaner in all of the engines that get used. Stabil in anything that sits, and then Seafoam when it comes out of storage.
