Re: suspension and brakes
Just wondering if anyone has actually weighed the stock arms against a tubular upper / lower arm. I honestly think the majority of our front suspension weight is in the spindle/disk/caliper.

Re: suspension and brakes
well once i get my cpp upper tubular a arms this week ,i let you know how much they weigh compared to stock a arms ,im sure there's a difference since tubular is less material
im sure with the lower a arms alot of weight is lost there alone,

Re: suspension and brakes
I was thinking a set of drop spindles, aluminum calipers, tubular upper and lower control arms, and ss brake lines for the front. My brother has a 2000 trans am that is wrecked I was going to get the rear brakes off of if they will work.

Re: suspension and brakes
Weight may only be a few pounds possibly 10-15 each. But the biggest gain is the geometry the new ones have compared to the old ones.

For what I do, I'm not sure the geometry is going to do much for me If memory serves we were able to get like 6-7* of caster out of my truck on the factory arms. It drives straight as an arrow even at 128mph. For me there would have to be a big weight savings for me to go with them. The reason I am holding out for eiher a mustang 2 front or the front end that a board member is developing. I though about C5 stuff too..

Re: suspension and brakes
I've looked at the tubular stuff alot and I have found in reading that they actually weigh a few more pounds than stock.
I would consider a Mustang II type suspension to save a little weight because of being able to go rack n pinion and coil overs. |

Re: suspension and brakes
I did not have the backing plates, but I do believe others on this page may have tried it. That is why another member here was making backing plates at one time for both the Camaro and Caprice calipers using Caprice rotors. If you have them, put them on and take some measurements. Can't hurt to look them over on the rear. But make sure they line up.

Re: suspension and brakes
Member glockisp35 was the one that originally was selling the Camaro caliper brackets. Then after he decided to quit selling them, I took over. The Camaro caliper brackets that I sell use the '93-'97 F-body calipers with the '94-'96 Impala SS/Caprice rotors for the 5x5 wheel pattern. I have naother bracket for those with the 6x5.5 wheel pattern. I currently have 4 different rear disc brake conversion brackets, but none that work with the 4th Gen F-body.

Re: suspension and brakes
I'm assuming you mean you don't sell brackets for LS1 F-body since you mention having a bracket for 93-97 F-body? I was honestly tempted to have the water jetting place make 10 sets, but I didn't want to get in on somone elses business. Come to think of it, there are probably 4-5 items I could have made that I have already done on my truck.. Maybe someday.

Re: suspension and brakes
Right on.. What calipers did you order? Any chance you feel like weighing it all when you get it in? Thanks in advance.

Re: suspension and brakes
My mother lives in ca. so she just picked them up and next day aired them to me.I think it was the second when I called and bought them and they didn't say anything about them being on backorder. They did however backorder the heavy duty c-notch kit and rear ss brake lines at that time. I have recieved a email this morning that those items sound be here by thursday the 9th.

Re: suspension and brakes
That was an old 468 with cast heads in the 1/8 it ran 6.9 all day long driving it there and driving it home for 6 years +/-. I haven't ran this new setup yet still trying to get the bugs worked out.
