Should one rear crossmember be crooked?
Just checking, looks factory because it is riveted in, but I want to take care of it while I have the bed off if need be. This is the crossmember that the factory sway bar bolts to (coil and trailing arm rear, 69 SWB). The crossmember is not parallel with the back of the cab or the bumper. Is this correct?

Re: Should one rear crossmember be crooked?
Cool. Makes you stop and think for a second when you see it, doesn't it? I figured it was all right after I looked a little closer at it. Never paid much attention before...

Re: Should one rear crossmember be crooked?
Triangulation. That little crookedness makes for a lot of strength.

Re: Should one rear crossmember be crooked?
triangulation is correct ... if you will notice, it's angle runs opposite the angle of the Panhard bar.

I was going to ask the same question. I was hoping the answer was yes.

Re: Should one rear crossmember be crooked?
I have been staring at that dang thing since i got the truck myself! It was driving me crazy! I was thinking it was like that to provide clearance for the panhard bar, ya know, if the factory expected these trucks to all be slammed
