I found some 16"x8" stockers, 8 lug, what are they worth, I don't wanna blow money to buy em when they aren't worth squat.

I picked up a set for my burb at a salvage yard for $25 each a year ago. They are 16's, not 16.5's.

I have 7 16.5" wheels right now.

So are the 16"s a little rarer?

I don't know about rarer, but its harder to find tires that fit the 16.5's, so most people try to find 16's. The 16's I got look just like the 16.5's, but they came off late 70's early 80's 3/4 tons.

I've run across the 16.5 tire problem myself. I wanted to keep the truck stock, but the tires that my tire guy had were old, and really expensive..... and biasply (SP). I have a few youngsters who ride in that truck from time to time, so its gonna be radials or not drive the truck. I got a set of aluminum late model (2003) 8-lug rims. I also found some lugs that work with the center caps--- which I like very much. They are handsome rims. I paid 150. The rims and caps were spotless.

I sold some 16 x 7" steel stockers (from a ca. 1988 1 ton) with tires on them not that long ago for $100.

out here, 10 bucks a stock steel rim is good, would not pay more then that. Note, nearly all 8 lug Ford/Chevy trucks from 67 up (excluding newer fords/chevy after 90 I think) have these rims, so find other places if you have to pay more then 40-50 bucks for 4 bare rims.

i've gotten at least 4 full sets for free over the last few years. They aren't stock for our trucks, but a stock looking and great upgrade.

I don't think that the have the same size center hole. I think that the Ford/Dodge rim is bigger. Not a problem unless you want to put a Chevy rim on a Ford. (It doesn't work.)

the center hole IS a problem if you haul a lot of heavy loads. The hub carries the weight, not the lugs. If you have an offbrand wheel, then the lugs are supporting the load. Thats when lugs start snapping.

I understand the science behind that, and I don't disagree... but on the flip side, my K20 has carried a LOT of very heavy loads and still has all its original lug studs.

Only weighed it once, on certified scales. 6,000# payload of topsoil over 40+ miles of mountain road. Steering was a bit dicey as were the brakes. I would not recommend it, nor would I do it again.
