pics of my '78 k20 on 40's.

well it seems everybody likes to put pics of there trucks up,and id like to see what people thought about my truck.

the story-at 15 years old my dad offered to buy me anythin under 2200$ but i insisted on bein stupid and buying my own truck( i only had 500$ saved).
soooo i drag home this 1978 k20 silverado from a field sittin half on its side.over the time until now( im 17) i have been fixing everything on this damn thing.
ALL brand new electrical,(wiring, switches, guages etc etc).
me and my dad built a hyper 355 for it all brand new.rebuilt th400 tranny.
brand new brakes,lines etc.
got a 6" suspension lift and 3" body lift and steering stabalizers etc off ebay as well as the wheels and 39.5" swampers.
needless to say ive spent a TON on it.everything works like brand new.its gettin prepped for primer and paint n stuff.

what do you guys think?interior pics etc soon if ya want!(dont mind the guirl in the pic, only pics of the truck i got at the moment loll)

Awesome!!!! Nice truck!!! I don't think you were stupid wanting to pay for your own rig....that's pretty cool IMHO. My daughters may have help buying their cars (my girlfriend and I want them to have classic chevy to drive when they are old enough) but we are going to teach them how to save up for and fix their cars.

Re: pics of my '78 k20 on 40's.

You have accomplished what a lot of "kids" your age are too lazy, too stupid, or too spoiled to do!

Be proud of the fact that it is YOURS! You manned up, built it yourself, and a now reaping the benefits. You made the truck your own!

I bet your dad is proud, too!

Now put her in paint!

Re: pics of my '78 k20 on 40's.

Great stuff man. Did the same thing In HS. Bought mine at the ripe old age of 14( 68 stepper). Even took a weekend job during Football season at McDonalds for some extra cash. Took me 4 years doing a frame off but I learned a lot and had one nice ride I was very proud of when dad and I finished. The bad part was I had to drive my dads old Plumbing Van most of HS bc we didnt finish until my senior year. You and your Dad will have memories from this forever. Enjoy it!

Looks great, killer HS ride. Good on you for doing it yourself too. And I don't care what part of the US you're in, chicks dig trucks.

Thats a mean looking truck, good job!! It will be very nice when your done with it and you'll be able to say you did it yourself. That's a huge accomplishment for a young guy at this day in time.

***Girls help add to any pic!! And keep a eye on those bald rear tires.***

Re: pics of my '78 k20 on 40's.

Love the truck, but I hate those tires. bald or brand new, that has to be the ugliest tire ever created! Not trying to demean your truck, cuz it is a bada** truck. just had to give my opinion of the ugly tires.

I like those door panels, had some in my 79 I built, forget where I got them..do you have power locks and crank windows?? how wierd is that?

I had a girlfriend who wouldn't go 4 wheeling with me because of the bouncing issue, said it hurt. so I asked her if I could take her top-heavy friend instead. She said no.

I was going to comment on the placement of those huge ridiculous stacks in the first picture, but I saw in the second picture they were gone. So then I looked back at the first picture and said Oh, never mind...lol
