Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
I am actually replacing some parts on my work truck tomorrow and then I have 2 weeks to get my driveway clear or the city is going to fine me and remove my cabs and parts outta the driveway so should be a rolling chassis to some degree, going to grind and paint my trailing arms tomorrow evening

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
For sure racing isn't how I want to do this build. I spent a good hour grinding on the trailing arms and something let loose in my garage lost all power so I'll be back at it tomorrow after my electrician come over, hoping its just a short in my extension cord or something simple, either way I have more outlets than just the garage There's a lot of grinding to be done after welding the braces so I'm hoping to get some paint on them tomorrow night and install the steering components, grind my rotors for the 338's and paint the steering box, I'll post pics of the progress if the weather is nice enough

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
Hey, if you are looking to change direction a little i got a line on some stuff. I know its a little late because you have done so much **** to your frame but I am throwing this out for you, a swb porterbuilt dropmember frame as a roller, assembled for $4500 and add 12" willwood front and rears for another $1000. That all the bags, crossmembers, rack and pinion, steering components, spindles, all put together and painted. In Calgary. All the stuff is from porterbuilt fabrication, my order was over $6000. Would also save you on grinding rotors possibly.

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
nothing major, work has picked up so after the gym it's hard to stay motivated. After a bit of ginding, some preventative rust converter, primer and paint they're ready for installation hopefully tomorrow. Also began the box teardown, only one box side worth saving but that was understood when it was purchased

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
Thanks, I put another coat of black on them tonight and started some work space clean up, may coat them in silver to match the steering components though haha, may accent nice with the rest of the silver, hoping for some better updates next week on my days off. Ordering my needed passenger fender and poly body mounts tomorrow.

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
Nothing overly major to update, installed the rear suspension as a mock up, not sure if I installed the rear spring retainers correctly? trailing arm and lower retainer bolts are 3/4in too short so tomorrow I'll try and get off work early enough to get to the fastener store, get my rotors machined at the brake shop, and pick up some paint to coat up the remaining steering components. Also installed the cpp transmission mount loose, had to get the box off the floor and outta the way sorry about the lack of pics I'm having computer issues, unsure how to make them 100kb from 1.8mb I also ordered my fender in and received my body mounts

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
Little bit I need to get off early to get the rotors machined and get the fasteners but with any luck today or tomorrow that'll be done

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
rotors are machined, best $40 I've spent in awhile, way nicer look than the grinding I would have pulled off Tomorrow I should have the steering box and components in, front brakes and wheels and hopefully the cab on

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
started in on the steering and front end, CPP shipped the wrong tie rod sleeves and the tire shop the wrong lug nuts, not a major, installed the steering box and started with the rest of the steering, hoping I can find the stock sleeves in my scrap pile tomorrow and should have lug nuts tomorrow, I will post pics of the chassis tomorrow, with any luck the cab will be temporarily on as well

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet
Everything's looking really nice. I loved puting my cab back on. Temporary or not, it's a good source of motivation to see it start to look like a truck.
