Car d'Lane 2011

This year the weather for our local cruise and car show, Car d'Lane wasn't the best, but we didn't get too wet on Saturday. I finally got to meet jonzcustomshop and his wife and kids, as they came over for the weekend for the cruise and car show. It was great to meet you guys and hope to see you again.

Anyways, here are some pics from the show on Saturday. There were a couple '60-'66 trucks that I haven't seen before, which was cool. The white and turquoise '65 long bed belonged to a friend of mine that was killed about 13 years ago. His son inherited the truck, and it was repainted a few years ago by a family friend. I haven't seen it since it was painted, so it was cool to see Mark Jr. cruise in it on Friday and have it in the show on Saturday.

The orange GMC reminded me of lakeroadster's truck

I was liking the silver '65.....it had a nice small block backed with a 6 speed

Thanks for posting. Looks like there was a nice variety at the show.

Neat story about your friends '65 too. I am sure he would be proud to be remembered in the way you stated, and proud his son is keeping his truck on the road and looking good.

Re: Car d'Lane 2011

Thanks!!! Enjoyed the pics. I've been working 10 hr. days and seven day weeks for a while now, so this is my only way to see a car show right now! Would someone tell people that 63-67 corvettes do not have to be customized. They look beautiful stock! The first pic seemed backwards, the truck should be torquoise with a white top and grille accent but it's good to see people mixing it up a bit. Hey lakeroadster, your big block ice cube trays are catching on

Well, to be technically correct, they are "Super Sport" ice cube trays

Re: Car d'Lane 2011

great to meet you capt. !
car show was a real breath of fresh air from the stuff around here....
was suprised to see how many 60-66's were at the show....
there were more of our year than any other year or brand of truck.

of course I got 1 photo, then the camera batteries died...and the spares were at the motel!

there were 2 cool 62 flat bed duallies, 1 a c20, the other the c30 capt. pictured last year.

there were also 2 subs, a 62 chev (pict. lats year) and a 60 gmc that was to go through the auction.

there were also 3-4 trucks that just made the cruise and not the show.

All very nice rides, but curiosty has got me on the silver `65 why does his engine sit so high in the saddle, I`ve seen several like this lately....mine sits way down in the holler so to speak....LOL.... or is this just an illusion....

Re: Car d'Lane 2011

Nope, no Z-ing on that frame. I think it is more of an illusion since the hood was only open a little and I had to shoot the pic from a low angle.

That blue 69 or 70 what were those wheels? Don't they look bigger than 16.5's? or is that just an illusion?

Re: Car d'Lane 2011

That blue shortbed had 3/4 ton running gear, and I believe the wheels were 16", but I don't recall looking at them specifically. They may look bigger since they are black, and the truck was lowered some also.

Re: Car d'Lane 2011

Well I was pleased to read in this mornings newspaper that this truck won "Best Stock Truck' for Car d'Lane 2011

Too bad the newspaper couldn't spell his name correctly. Still cool to see him bring home a trophy......his dad would have been proud

Thanks Capt. I'm glad the 65 won! I gotta say, that blue 69/70 with the 3/4 ton chassis is Saweeeet though... (i don't mean for the stock award, just in general - love the look and stance, etc)
