Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

I am looking for a coupler sleeve for the adapter from a sm465 to np205. This is just the 10 spline sleeve, not the entire adapter. The one I have has some wear on it. I know you can get aftermarket ones for about $75, but they don't seem to be machined in quite the same way as the originals. The originals have a groove cut across the transmission end to help gear oil pass into the coupler. I would think that is important, but you don't see it on the "new" ones. Anyhow if anyone has one in very nice shape, I would be interested. Thanks
John

Are the three speed sleeves the same?

I don't know for sure, but I would doubt it. I don't think 3 speeds had np205's behind them did they?

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

John,

The sleeve is still in the adapter which is still attached to the 3 speed transmission. I suspect the sleeves are the same as the adapter is the same length as the SM 465. I can remove the sleeve to take some measurements
but pickupman can probably give you a quicker answer as to the length and diameter. Mine measures approximately 3" long when measuring from the inside.

If pickupman can't do the measurements, then I can pull mine apart and let you know. I will watch the post to see if you get an answer from him.

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

Try these guys:

http://www.quad4x4.com/New_Process_NP205_Parts.html

They have alot of rare and hard to find stuff, including the coupler for a 205 to sm465. I didn't get lucky I had to change the main shaft in my SM465 along with getting a second hand coupler off of fleabay. That was before I found out these guys sold them. They even had the metal gaskets and parts for my Dana/Spicer blue dial hubs.

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

I will probably go with one of quad4x4's if I can't find an original. Like I said the only difference is the oiling groove on the transmission end, I would rather have an original with one.

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

I have an original from my gently used '79 that had 51,000 miles when I pulled the trans and t-case. I wont be back to town until Friday though. Could that work for you?

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

I am out of town from tomorrow until sunday, time isn't a problem. Can you shoot me a picture and a price? As long as there isn't any wear on the internal splines I am interested.

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

Good Lord I am so sorry John. I am not a slack ass, really. School and work take me out of town and I get tied up at times.

Here's the pics I promised. Both sides. This coupler was from my 1979 Scottsdale Sport with 51,000 miles on it before I ehem, roled it. All the drivetrain was tight and as you can see in the pic no wear. Does $60 plus shipping sound fair?

Again I am very sorry to keep you waiting.

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

I've been looking at shipping costs from and it looks like if i get it in the mail Tuesday you could have it Friday or Saturday for $5 and change. I figured shipping would have been worse than that so I'd do $60 shipped. That should help you think better.

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

I can get a new one off eBay for $70 shipped....if you would do $50 shipped to me by usps priority mail that would be fine with me. It should fit in a small flat rate box which costs about $5. Let me know.

Re: Wanted: sm465 to np205 coupler sleeve

The internal C-clips are installed and in good shape on this one. $55 shipped and I'll accept the PayPal fee if you choose to go that route. Hope all is well in Palmer. I sure miss the Kenai Peninsula.

Sounds good John. I'll PM you my Paypal account. USPS says if I get this shipped out tomorrow morning the package should get to your zip Friday. I'm not sure if that means they will have it to your zip or if you will have it in hand Friday, but I will find out when I mail it tomorrow and let you know.
