Need Headlight Help Please!!!

Hey guys I need help! I was checking out my water pump on my '70 c-10 the other day just before it got dark out. So I checked it and took it for a spin around the block. When I went to turn on the headlights, they didnt turn on! All other lights are working. Parking lamps, tail lights, and side markers are all on and working. Only my headlights are out. I've never had this happen and don't know where to start? Any Ideas on what it could be? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Try kicking the dimmer switch back and forth from bright to dim a couple of times. They seem to go out every few years. Be rough with it.

Re: Need Headlight Help Please!!!

Check the blue wire at the dimmer switch for power. If you have power on it then pull the plug on the dimmer and jump the blue wire to either the tan wire or the green wire and see if the headlights come on. If they do then the dimmer switch is bad and if they don't then the problem is in the wiring from the dimmer switch to the headlights.

Re: Need Headlight Help Please!!!

Pull switch to on position and wiggle connectors at the back of each headlight. I've found that dirty connections there are quite common.

Re: Need Headlight Help Please!!!

If the switch or the plug to the switch is bad, do the headlight relay upgrade. WAY too much current flows through those wires. High current = heat = voltage loss = melted plugs and dim, yellow headlights.

A simple search in this forum for "headlight relay upgrade" will yeild many posts and many diagrams on how to do it.

Re: Need Headlight Help Please!!!

a common problem is the connector to the dimmer switch// the wires tend to get brioke off and no power to dimmer switch result in no headlights

This would be my guess.
