Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Small progress update......
The passenger side cab repair is almost buttoned up....finally. We found out while test fitting the cab corner that is was formed wrong and needed to be massaged a little. The bend radius was too short on the cab corner and it didn't line up well with the straight edge of the "b" pillar. We mocked it up, tacked it in place and then cut a relief cut in the piece and made it fit like it was supposed to. Hopefully the pictures will explain what I can't. The cab corner and rocker were finally welded in after final fitment of the door. I then moved onto the door window hoop fitment issue. I ended up cutting a hard 1/8" out of it and the radius turned out perfect. I just hope the glass fits. The upper kick panel area is next on the list. There were quite a few pin holes in it after it came back from the sandblaster. Trying to get a rough idea of what needed to be cut out. (Excuse the sloppy freehand marks.) Out with the old... And in with the new, sort of. I still need to finish welding it in. This is where it currently stands at the moment. I should be finishing up the the kick panel area this week and then I can move onto the cowl and firewall. The plan is to shave the firewall and then make the passenger side of it mirror the radius on the driver's side. Not really an exciting update, but it's progress nonetheless.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
On a roll this week, still making some progress. Got the upper kick panel patch welded in and cleaned up. (Sorry for the crappy pic.) I moved to the firewall area and started mocking up the firewall patch kit that I got from member Porterbuilt. (See the link below for the firewall patch kit.) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=404401 (FYI: The radius patch is a rough cut piece and you have to trim it to fit your firewall.) AC delete panel temporary in place. Tacking it up Fully welded in. Notice that the radius patch has been trimmed and mocked up as well. I used the round blank from the kit and patched up the blower motor opening in my new cowl panel. Boy, do I love grinding. At least it turned out good. Firewall shots. The cowl is just set in place at the moment, it'll be coming back off so I can dress up the round blank some more. Once the cowl is cleaned up and welded in I'll weld the radius panel to the firewall. Hopefully, I can stay motivated and keep the progress going. Stay tuned for more updates. .

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
I'm going to be using a kit from Classic Air. The interior will be getting a small makeover as well. The plan is to smooth the stock radio opening and also smooth, eliminate the ash tray. Once the dash is smooth I'll install my Classic Air controller pictured below and cut in (2) round air vents on either side of the control. Then I'll modify the stock ac/heat controller opening to accept an aftermarket single din radio. Here's the AC controller that I'm using. Here's a couple of pictures to give you an idea of what it should look like when done.
