Cargo Lite...3rd Brake lite w/o loosing Cargo Lite function?

I have been looking for a LED set up that would replace the cargo lite so ... that I have my cargo lite plus a 3rd brake lite. Who sells these? I did a search but most post were 3-4 years old. Thanks

Re: Cargo Lite...3rd Brake lite w/o loosing Cargo Lite function?

I got 2 frog eye type red LED's from PEP BOYS [the ones that you can try out while in the box] and double side taped them inside the light housing [perfect fit], drilled 1 small hole in the light housing [for the wires] and tapped into the brake switch. They don't effect the cargo light and you can't see any hint of red until the brake lights come on, very bright at night but a little on the dim side during the day,

I am looking for the LED set up not the bulbs...Drilling holes in the Circuit Rider is not an option

well that link does not take you directly to the part it's # is 04-3rd or L.E.D. Cargo Light & 3rd Brake Light LED Kits

C'mon man! Your truck is too cool for a 3rd brake light anyway! Leave that to these newer plastic toys trucks.

Re: Cargo Lite...3rd Brake lite w/o loosing Cargo Lite function?

I went by Early Classic Enterprises today and talked to them and they said that the vendor that they got the led kits from went out of business. I'm going to keep looking or find some leds that will work and modify it myself.

Re: Cargo Lite...3rd Brake lite w/o loosing Cargo Lite function?

I used a `93 F**d Ranger third brake and cargo combination. I sanded it a little flatter on the sealing surface and being that it is a factory brake lite it is bright and the bulbs are easily found.

I think I'll try what cheyenne shortstep did and see how I like that. It seems like some one should make a few of these.

Re: Cargo Lite...3rd Brake lite w/o loosing Cargo Lite function?

OK here are the crappy pics I took. You can see the small hole I had to drill for the wires, if you don't want to drill your perfect original light housing you could do this mod to another housing and spare the OG from the drill. As you can see it does not interfere with the cargo light, I will take a pic of it in the daylight tomorrow. This was cheap & easy as it gets, adding a modern safety feature without distracting from the original classic look.

Wow, that lights up pretty good!

Btw, I bought one of those LED strips and mounted it on the rear cross sill below the tailgate. It lights up with the brakes pretty brightly...if you like that look. I think it looks just fine.
