Re: I Rolled the Dice Boys...Bought a 67 CST sight unseen!

Wow...two pages of responses, and not a single pic! Funny stuff right there SK!

Just got home from a 4th party. (It's 10pm) Earlier today I picked up the truck (which took a loooong time thanks to U-Haul drama) Luckily it was a local thing, so it worked out in the end. I have not had a chance to look the truck over real good....basically rolled up at 8 am, checked it out briefly, got it loaded up....towed it home on the car trailer, and dropped it in my driveway around 11:30 am. Got cleaned up, bailed with the family for a party. Just got home a little bit ago, hosed off the truck, and snapped a few quick "teaser" pics

The original color was obviously red, and someone started a "backyard" restoration. Not bad overall, so far from what I can see. The doors are in fantastic shape, still original paint on them (and the rest of the bottom of the truck body as well). I did not get any pics of the engine bay, but the engine was supposedly rebuilt and does look like someone took some time with it. It does not run, as the PO ripped out all the wiring (next step in the project) but everything is there. I will get more pics and follow up on that soon.

WOW! It looks better than in the picture you sent me. Not too shabby! If (yeah right) you were planning a SWB conversion I have clean California '67 bedsides. Shipping cross country would kill the deal though. Wait...something seems wrong here???

Panoramic rear window was an option on any truck, like A/C,tach,etc. Most did get ordered with big windows. On this note,I noticed the horn button isn't the '67 type. Did those not make it onto all '67s?

Re: I Rolled the Dice Boys...Bought a 67 CST sight unseen!

Unfortunately, it has not been registered since 2001, and there are close to $1000 due in DMV back fees...in other words it is a good "parts truck". I am pulling some parts from it, and sending it on down the road. For a mere $10, the PO could have filed a non-operation (freeze) on the registration and this would have been avoided.

If you sell it to a person out of state, are the DMV fees an issue? Not dure how Cali works for back fees...

I also noticed the cab is a low hump...shouldn't it have been a high hump? ( I am assuming it has a TH400 trans, but there are black widows under the truck, and I am not crawling underneath to look at the pan )

I do not know. I know that if I apply for a transfer of title (meaning anyone in Calif) I have to pay the back fees. I have always "heard" after 7 years that vehicles are "out of the system". Well, apparently that is an urban legend folks

Re: I Rolled the Dice Boys...Bought a 67 CST sight unseen!

I'm sure if it went out of state the non-op stuff wouldn't be an issue. It only is an issue when you go to re-register in CA. I've had CA trucks back here for 10 years that came to me with current CA registration, let that run out,and 10 years later walk into the MD DMV and come out with a MD title...no probs.
Just tell your DMV the reason it went non-op is it has black widows and the p.o. was afraid to get the title out of the glovebox. They'll understand

There were "Back Fees" on my 72 GMC, to the tune of $600.00, but the P.O. had paid them off a Month before he traded it to me straight across for my 2 Door 96 Tahoe! I think the KBB on my Tahoe was $2500.00 and it was $5000.00 on the 72 GMC. I signed over the Pink Slips, before he changed his mind!

That does look like a great truck for some one and definitely a good parts unit. Nice score!

Scott-just register in Arizona and use your dad's address-I think it's about $40.00. Not sure they even have to look at it-they didn't when I registered mine there a few years ago.................

Sell it to a friend out of state with no in-op fee b.s. and let them get it registered in their state then buy it back from them a few months later.
