Its the circular thingy on the passengers side of your trans. Remove retaining ring, cut seal, old servo comes off. Then install new servo with seal and replace retaining ring.

You can save the money from the headers and exhaust upgrade and put it towards a turbo & intercooler setup and skip the head upgrade entirely.

Many people are using the truck manifolds flipped over to exit forward and feed a front mounted turbo so you can use what is on the motor all ready.

You can make 600 rear wheel HP with an inexpensive Brazilian made Master Power MP70 turbo a cheap $150 intercooler, 50 pound injectors and a Z06 Vette cam & springs. No other mods needed to the engine. Stepping up to an MP76 turbo will give you a little more power ~650 rwhp.

These are from an F-body site but you can get the basic idea of the system and what needs done from them.

This is the setup I am working towards to replace the aging big block in my Camaro.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I can NOT use any poweradders. My efi cant handle boost or n2o. So the only thing i can do is internal or maniflods like intake and exhaust. I would like a turbo tho. Maybe way down the road. I think i am going to spend my money on cosmetics for a while. Like level it out cause it sags 2 inches in rear and interior and body. I dont even drive it right now due to job changes. I now drive a f650 service truck everyday. Hate it is a ford but it has a cummins in it so it is ok......

I'm going to guess you have a vette 1-2 servo now. With how much weight you have a billet 1-2 won't hurt.

The trans you have should have the billet servo per their website if I found the right one. They changed their website configuration from what I remember.

Well that sucks. A turbo is the way to go as far as dual purpose vehicles and power adders are concerned. You only get boost when you want it so part throttle gas mileage doesn't suffer at all and you never run out like with nitrous.

Maybe you can retrofit something else with your current EFI system down the road after you get the Burb looking the way you want it to and put a boost friendly EFI system onto the Burb when you get to the turbo.

That EFI you have would be a nice upgrade for a Q-Jet equipped square body or 67-72.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Ya i may swap it out for a exi kit that is programable or just do the ls6 intake with twins one day. Or even a roots blower or procharger. Who knows. It will do for now. I just drove it for the first time in a week and boy is it fun. Going from a 20,000 lb truck with 200 hp to a 6000 lb truck with 450+ is amazing. It feels short now from siting in my service truck. It is also nice to not have to shift the burb. Dang ford is a 6 speed manual.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I bought this kit for my pickup. Had to use a pretty large spacer to get it to clear the distributor, but other than that I am happy.

http://store.spectreperformance.com/...6.0.0.0?pp=35&

I would be careful buying something for a specific vehicle when you have a different motor swapped in. The throttle body could be fore or aft far enough to cause problems with the fit when compared to a SBC and carb. Maybe something like this?

http://store.spectreperformance.com/...6.0.0.0?pp=35&

It would certainly work, and you could use the spot for the factory fresh air intake on the radiator support.

Seems crazy overpriced for what you get but hey, if you got the money. I cant see it adding any performance myself but who knows.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I like it cause it is seperate from the engine heat and draws in from where the factory one did. The motor is only about 1 inch back. And pepboys sells extra tubes and angles for it. I want to make my own but use that sheet metel thing but they dont sell them sep. I like the chrome pipe better then the black one but i like the air filter in the second black one cause it is harder to get wet. They also sell one with the big round air cleaner with two chrome tubes that go to the factory air inlets on both sides. I would guess it would sound cool and get cooler air. Not sure tho. Deff like the look.

What about a cowl induction setup like the 67 Z/28 used? It tied an air intake tube to the firewall that drew air from the cowl vent panel area. A good sized closed element air cleaner from something with a larger air intake duct could work pretty well for this and cost next to nothing.

A mid 80's Camaro or Monte Carlo air cleaner would work great for this.

It doesn't have to be as large as the one in the pic. A 4" round hole or equivalent area opening would be more than enough.

They are all pretty busy looking to me. Hard to clean too.

What about something like the 1999-up 2500 aluminum wheels? I had them on my 2001 2500HD and liked them. Pretty easy to clean and they look pretty good for a factory wheel.

You can even cut out the round center portion of the caps to make them clear locking hubs for use on older trucks too.

First off, awesome build thread.
I know this is kinda off topic but I've read through your thread a couple of times and cant find the answer. I plan on doing a very similar swap in my K5 while keeping the 700r4 and using the dirty dingo mounts. Did you have to modify your engine cross member at all? Use an aftermarket one? Thanks

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

No.. there is not a lot of room. Mine is less then 1/2 inch from hitting it. That is the front crossmember. It does not have one in the rear or under the engine. Did not see how close it was tell after it was all done. No big deal tho. Has not ben hitting for the last few months. It is mostly the 2wd trucks that have crossmember problems.

I do like the factory wheels in that pic but they would be so far in side my fender it would look funny to me. I want them to be wider too. 8-10 inches wide. I will have to modify any center cap i get with any of the 3 wheels i picked. No big deal.

I agree. I wish they were wider too and the offset isn't the greatest for a square body. When I win the lotto I will have a set put on wider rim shells and correct the offset.

They were never meant for wide off road tires from the factory but I have seen some pretty big tires on them on K2500 trucks running around town. Haven't been able to get the tire size off any yet though so I don't know what size they were. They looked about 33x12.50 or so in size.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I would love some h2 wheels but the ofset is way off. They are one of the cooles wheels i have seen. When you win the lotto you could send a set of the extra wide factory wheels to tyler tx for me. I have seen sone 35s on factory wheels but they look like a ballon on a pizza tin. Not that safe too.

If it is just the offset that is wrong and you really like the H2 wheels then a set of bolt on wheel spacers might be what you need.

I just found these with a quick search and they come from 1" to 3" thick in 1/2" increments. One of those is bound to be the right one to put the H2 wheels where you want them in the wheel well.
