Exhaust Tip Ideas

I just installed a sport rear bumper on my truck and i was wondering if anyone had pictures of where there pipes come out. i want them to come out the back, not the side, im just not sure if i want them to come straight out or if i want them to angle down. any pics (preferably 67-72 trucks w/ sport bumper) would be very helpful! thanks!

Re: Exhaust Tip Ideas

I wish I had a pic of a truck that was used at the Texas Motor Speedway. It was one of our favorites....black, with some nice checkerboard graphics down the side, from the doors to the back and wrapping around the tailgate.

Anyway, the exhaust system on that truck had them tucked up out of sight, except for the ends of the pipes, which were barely visible on each side, near the outer ends of the bumpers. Nothing visible from the side until the very back where (again) it was just the tips of the tailpipes that you saw sticking downward at (approx) a 60-degree angle.

I always thought that was a clean look, and what I'd do if I was ready for exhaust pipes.

Re: Exhaust Tip Ideas

Here are a few more that I've saved - in case you haven't QUITE made up your mind yet. I think I like the last picture, if they were just about a inch or two lower and more of them showed. Most trucks have them coming straight out under the bumper - "Being different isn't bad, being BAD is bad" !!!

i do like the looks of the last truck, but my main reason for putting them straight out the back is i want to put flamethrowers in the tips. my original concern was that 3" pipes would look to BIG. but i also think i might reduce to 2 1/2'' off the back of the flows

the mufflers dump right before the rear axle right now, and i could add a little bit of a down angle but the vibrations from where it dumps now resonates through the cab, and it is my daily driver so it does get annoying.

im pretty sure that is my final decision, but it could change my mind in the 15 minuets it takes me to get to the muffler shop. i'm headed there now

Adding the down angle makes more differance than you could imagine. Mine are turned down and continue aprox 4-6 more inches. Keeps the sound out of the cab.

On my Nissan Titan. I didnt do that. Again dumped them at the back axle. Even just with dual 60 series flowmasters the rumble in the cab could be quite annoying at times....
