Wife approved spending $6000 on daily driver!! WOOOHHOO

The wife has given me the OK on buying a daily driver that will help me finish up my 67-68 project. So I am on the lookout for a really nice 67-68 C10 with...Big back window, SWB, and would love factory air. prefer fleetside but not a deal breaker. The body needs to be in perfect shape, all rust repair done and a great running gear. Im not too worried about suspension bc mine is pretty much complete.

Any help would be GREAT!!! I really need to hurry while she is being so generous.

Methinks finding a SWB with a perfect body and a great drivetain is going to tough to find for $6000, but good luck bro!

Even if its a Fo-67 (71 with 67 front clip) I am fine with it.

I'm just saying SWB truck with perfect sheetmetal in great mechanical shape usually goes for more than $6000, no matter what year it is from 67 - 72.

Re: Wife approved spending $6000 on daily driver!! WOOOHHOO

I am def. not picky about the parts... it doesnt have to be all OE parts and it doesnt even have to be painted. A good running gear and all the rust repair done will work.

It doesn't matter if your picky or not. To clarify what he is saying, a SWB BBW 67-72 that is rust free, with a reliable motor, A/C and good paint is going to run more than 6k.

I've had quotes between 600-1000 to ship from AZ or CA to VA....so if you can find one around 5K...it would be worth looking at and maybe having a member here check it out if there is someone close to it...

you might find one for around 6K locally (deals do happen)...but it won't be painted and it'll be gone withing about 2hrs of being posted on craigslist

This one (not mine) is a ways from you, but other than the wheels it looks pretty nice. And he is negotiable...

Re: Wife approved spending $6000 on daily driver!! WOOOHHOO

I just read your build thread....with the frame being almost done...I'd look for possibly just the parts (doghouse-front clip), a nice cab, and a nice bed...then add your engine...
If you buy another project you might find bondo again....
Or....look for a project that someone is abandoning...

That looks like a great deal from the pics. Just have to be careful with painted trucks though. You never know what's underneith unless they documented it.

Here's my 72 GMC Shortbed Fleetside.(NOT FOR SALE).
Body Work $5000.00
Seats $1100.00
Interior Restoration (Parts/Paint) $4000.00
Exhaust, Tucked up in the Frame w/Elec Cut-Outs $1100.00
A/C recharged, New Compressor,Vents, Tubing, Switches $800.00

That's not counting all the little incidentals like all LED Lighting, Stereo, Kick Panel Speakers ect.

I'm siding with the previous poster's that as far as $6K for a Daily Driver without rust is gonna be impossible to find, unless you steal it!

and that's just my 02 cents.

Don't be afraid to look for 3/4-ton longbed trucks.
That's where the deals are now.
Easily converted to 1/2-ton suspension,... and some are loaded big block trucks.

Re: Wife approved spending $6000 on daily driver!! WOOOHHOO

with both of them....

You can also get a NEW repro short bed for around 2K-2500 on sale with our board vendors... or find a really nice original paint SWB for 1500-2000 then find a nice cab and front clip out west off a lwb for 1000-1500max (I've seen rust free lwb's sell for 1000 in cali and az)....pay to get it shipped east....and put in 2-3K into an engine and you've spent 6K and have really nice parts to put on that sweet frame you've put together....
