68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"

Ok before I get to the meat of this build I would like to say that the project name is actually a big sign of my gratitude to Nate-not a knock! I researched for months and finally decided to purchase his full dropmember kit for my 68. I kid him that I look at lots of vendors still but I always am amazed at what he comes up with next for these trucks---therefore I am "chained" (lol) to his site for what is coming next!!!
Having said that, I am still using other vendors ( some on here) for parts and services in the months to come!!

I have been a member here for years but had other projects going but now I am back to the trucks I love and have done in years gone by. This is not going to be as radical as previous trucks but more in line with Superfly's build with a few twists..I appreciate all input as we go down the road--Here's a few pics of where we are at right now with cab bottom blasted-then in epoxy -stock swb frame ready to add nate's parts-still in air about drivetrain but working it out!!! jim

more pics--If your wondering about a partial blast on this cab--it was a 102k original mile -never repainted-still shining blue cab !!! no rust except around blower motor area--no rocker change,no cab corner change needed--Needed bottom blasted and firewall--Looked at 14 trucks before i bought this farm truck out of Brenham tx

Very nice project you have going here! That's a sweet rotisserie, and also very nice projects you built and sold. Your cab looks great too!

Look at that rotisserie close --2 -1k pound "harbor freight" motor stands-extended 20" up and straightened-some almost scrap metal --$250 maybe-and it spins with 1 hand--Trick is look at last pic and notice stands are centered side 2 side of cab but lower from top to bottom-in other words I found the centerline of the actual weight of the cab -unreal how it spins-I wasn't trying to be cheap but it really works for the money!! jim

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"

Looks like a GREAT cab. Going to be a sweet truck with that cab and PB parts (also judging by your past projects)

Believe me it is-have done all the rust work i can stand-spent probably $500 in fuel looking before buying this one-Then as usual 1 showed up within 25 miles of me-so i bought it 2-needed the short bed anyway!! May sell other cab -taking up room

U are 1 of the ones I will lean on during this build for some advice good or bad as we go--Read your posts and like your insight!!

By the way -I left out of the car post that the 55 was painted in '71-I never painted it-felt it looked cool with the patina--So did the guy in New Zealand.......jim
