97 no spark no fuel

ok im new to this so im sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot and for my spelling lol. i have a 97 silverado 5.7 vortec. for a couple of months i noticed when i first start it it misses and runs like crap and some times dies. but i could still drive it. but last week it died and wouldnt start, i tryed to hear the fuel pump and nothin so im thinkin ill change the f.pump, after i take it out i ran a set of wires to it just to make sure and it took right off. so i put everything back togther and started testing wires and i found that the "on with key" wire in the fuel pump relay was not gettin juice. so i ran a jummper to it and i could hear the f.pump running. so i try to start it and nothing. WTF so then i check for spark and nothin again so i start reading on line and i try replacing the ICM and crank sensor. still nothin i also have no voltage on the "on with key" wire on the coil. so what im wondering is what would shut down the fuel and fire at the same time ? p.s. the last owner took out the check engine bulb "cause it got on his nerves" dumb ass lol im gona replace it today and see if i get a code. thanks in advance for any help.
