Right above the first hole for the radio is one area. Maybe it's just the lighting.

Re: Project: Ginger
Small update.
Installed the refurbished "plain" 3-hole dash cluster, (the flash on my phone camera makes the needles look a different color,... but they are the same). Also plumbed the trans cooler with 6AN braided hose.

Re: Project: Ginger
Made a little progress today.
I installed the glovebox liner (of course,... 2 screw holes didn't line up. Poor quality aftermarket crap). Polished the original glovebox door and installed it. My air compressor crapped out last week. The new check valve showed up today. So I got that installed,... and had shop air to run my tools again. The big project was rebuilding my vent windows. I talked to several members and decided to buy a "Rivet Tool" to install the "factory style" rivets. I bought the vent window rivet tool from here: http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductD...L2-SR&CTitle=& I bought this tool because I have a few more vent windows to do, on my other trucks. (plus,... I like specialty tools) The rivet tool worked great,... but I think a second set of hands would have made this job slightly easier! I had some rivet left over from rebuilding my air vents. I purchased them from Classic Parts of America. http://www.classicparts.com/1951-87-...ctinfo/03-825/ I needed a way to do this by myself. I used a 5/8" x 1-1/4" x 22" piece of steel in my vise. The 5/8" thickness is perfect for the window channel after the weatherstrip has been removed. I also used a piece of 5/16" key stock to help rivet the oem pivot bracket back into position. (I switched heads in the tool and was able to rivet the second pivot bracket without the key stock) The first vent window took a little while to figure out. The second one went much faster. A small cut-off wheel in my air 90 grinder worked great for removing the necessary rivets. A drill was also used to get to a few rivets. I also used new rubber seals from Steele Rubber Products. https://secure.steelerubber.com/search_frameset.php Here's a few pics,...

Re: Project: Ginger
I know it doesn't look like much,... but they are ready to install.
I swapped out the window locks,... from another set that wasn't so pitted. Tomorrows project is new window weatherstrip and 1 regulator install. (because 1 is backordered),... and installing the vent windows. Here's my workbench after todays "little" project. Ha.

Re: Project: Ginger
The chrome on those look really nice. Were they just a nice original set or did you re-do that?

They have minor pitting. My truck has black/rusty vent windows,... and I didn't want to completely remove the glass and powdercoat or paint the frames,... so I'm adding these originals, that I got from member Teeitup. My blazer and my red '69 have SUPER nice chrome vent windows. I just haven't been able to fine a nice set for Ginger. So these will be fine for this old truck.

Seems like every time I tackle an "easy job", I end up with a mass of tools strewn around the project just like that.

Re: Project: Ginger
Another small update.
Today I installed my tilt column. I purchased a rebuilt tilt from member KevsClassics. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=264748. This is my second tilt column that I've bought from Kevin. The quality of his rebuilds are second to none. Also got the brake pedal adjusted for the Wilwood M/C. I had it set,... but then after installing the column and the lower bracket (with the brake pedal rubber bumper) changed the final position of the push rod. I think the M/C is on for good now. The other project was replacing all window weatherstrip and installing the newly rebuilt vent windows. This was a battle of "aftermarket parts". I ordered all my weatherstrip from Classic Parts of America. The door glass channel and division bar gaskets were fine. The window "fuzzys" (seals) were terrible. They are coming back off. (I've already ordered new window seals from Steele Rubber Products). I also installed new window regulators. The LH side was back ordered from Classic Parts. So I installed the RH regulator. Typical job that would be better with two people,... but it works great. Since I wanted to get the drivers side done,... I decided to use a NOS regulator that I purchased here in the classifieds. The NOS regulator has a rub in it. Like metal to metal in a just one spot. Aftermarket wins this time. Here's some crappy cell pics,...

Re: Project: Ginger
I know the tilt column doesn't fit the "plain jane" truck theme,... but I'm going to lower the seat brackets,... so it's a necessity.
Plus I needed an auto column since this truck originally had a 3-speed column.

Re: Project: Ginger
Nice work Keith and no worries about the tilt. I think they are near mandetory anyway. It looks like Kevin does a first class job on the tilt rebuilds.
