Ideas on fuel tank

Hi I have a 1968 c10 project and I want to put a tank on the back of the flame under the bed i want a 20 gallon the truck is a long bed and theres a cross member in the way anyone have any ideas if i move it back or remove it if it will affect it thanks.

There is a small u-shaped piece of metal that is about halfway between the back edge of the frame and the actual cross member that is roughly even with (above) the rear end. This piece is maybe 1 1/4 inches wide? Anyway, you can safely remove it. I have done so on mine without any problems. Hope this helps. Good luck.

This sounds like you are talking about the spare tire carrier, go ahead and take it out

Naw, theres another little crossmember that the tires rests against I believe. The tire carrier is under the tire. Take it out. Jim
