Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
Those brackets are for a small block with a long water pump. If your 283 is original, it will have the short water pump and those brackets will not work. Which water pump is on your 283?

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
You have the short water pump. You will need a second pulley, and the steering pump with mounting brackets for the short pump small block. Do you care whether the bracklets are the original style or would you be good with the '69-'71 style? I'll look tomorrow and see what I might have. Those 2 links I posted a couple of days ago have what you need minus the pump itself.

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
Take a look at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=453346. I used the bracket and pulleys from a 67, 68 283. I do have the short water pump. Check with Paul Duncan and son. He is a member here. http://www.pickupsandparts.com/Home_Page.html The bottom pic is my truck.

Bills Bracket Company, sold by Speedway Motors:

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
I haven't had any luck finding a pic of an original style PS set up yet. I'll keep looking.

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
Ok, this i what i have. I mounted the Jegs mount with a little grinding. the screws they supply are not the right one's. i shimed it with washer to get the right angle and the only difference is the pulley matching the others. anyone doing this conversion take notes. Buy a 30 pack of beer your choice of Coors and a bottle of Canadian club whiskey. anyways got everything but the rag joint and will get that this weekend. Captainfab help me out on the single pulley if you have one? Here are some pic's with the pump mounted.

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
OK, that pump is for a later model small block with a long water pump. The pulley having the wrong offset and the fact that it is a dual groove pulley is mostly your problem. I don't know if the aftermarket bracket is adding to it or not, as I have not used one like that. What you will need to do is find a PS pump pulley for a short water pump small block, and change it out on the pump you have. You will need a PS pump pulley puller to remove that pulley. You might be better off finding a pump with the correct pulley on it.

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
That's the same thing the OP purchased. It doesn't give sufficient support to the PS pump IMO. Do you have a short water pump or a long water pump?

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
I have the short water pump. I test fit the bracket and pump yesterday and the pump was on there really snug no movement or flex. My problem is a clearence issue with the alternator belt, it rides just about a 1/2 inch from the body of the pump inbetween the pump and pulley and when running I am afraid the belt will rub due to the natural movement of the belt in motion. I am also not sure if I have a pump for a long water pump or short. I am leaning toward it being for a long pump as the pulley lines up with what would be a third groove on the crank pulley if mine had one. I am considering buying a 3 groove and also a high rise alternator bracket to move it inboard and up so as to allow for the PS pump. I have A/C so it is on the passenger side or I could do something different. Anyone know how to tell if you have a long or a short pump. I recieved the pump for free through a friend of my dads and he has passed so can't get the info on the pump right now.

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
On the short water pump small blocks, the alternator belt does run quite close to the PS pump, when mounted in the stock location. I have never had a problem running them that way, even though the alternator belt can make contact with the PS pump. It sounds as though you might have the right pump and pulley. The PS pump does run off of what would be the 3rd groove out from the balancer. Take a look at Blue Heeler's last pics above. He has the correct crank pulley's for a short water pump small block with PS.

Re: Anyone have power steering pump pic's
Finally i figured this crap out. what i bought at long beach swap meet is a power steering pump factory cradle bracket and the brace. the single groove pulley that is needed is part# 509 that will line-up with 283 motor. i found a guy who had all "NOS" parts that's "new old ****" but he was nuts!!!!!! he wanted $500 bucks for a pulley because he says his are the best and not bent!! hell i can buy another truck for that price. I had fun checking stuff out and even brought a bunch of stuff to sell. I'll post some pictures of the install soon as my steering sleeve comes in. here's a couple of pic's with a friend of mine we were both selling 60-66 truck and suburban parts.
