Maximum Rear Tire Size?
Was wondering what the maximum rear tire with you can fit with out tubbing the wheel wells. I have a 69 GMC with leaf springs and a 4" drop in the rear, I bolted on a 10" wide 15" rim with 4" backspace and measured the clearences. I'm thinking I can fit a 315/60/R15 drag slick. Does anyone else have this size on the rear of their truck?

Re: Maximum Rear Tire Size?
I had a 295/50/15 on my 72 GMC with leafs and didn't have problems. I don't know the backspacing on the wheels (probably pretty close to 4"). The truck was lowered a little too.

Re: Maximum Rear Tire Size?
With a 4" backspace, same as stock, you'll have approximately 6" on the front side of the wheel and 4" on the back side. The wheels might be sticking out a bit with that offset, donno.
It's not so much the frame/ inner wheels well that would be an issue but the outer fender of the wheel well where it might rub, a 315/60-15 is right on 30" in diameter the height should not be a problem at all. However the Section width is right around 13" and the tread is just about 12", that's a nice fat tire. I would take a wheel off of the truck and simply measure the distance between the inner and outer wheel well and the frame and the outer wheel well/ fender. That way you will know exactly what your working with.

Re: Maximum Rear Tire Size?
From my measurements I decided to go ahead and get the 315/60/R15 MT Drag Radials, boy am I glad I did! They fit like a glove and look great. Plenty of clearence on the wheel well side and more than enough on the fender side. I will post some picts ASAP.
