Rarest 67-72 Trucks
What would be the rarest truck per year 67-72 and why .I know the big block trucks seem to be rare but just curious about each year and the different reasons they are rare. Mine started life as a 72 short bed fleetside with 6 cylinder and automatic with AM radio and not rare at all . Im not looking for a rare truck myself ,just curious about all these old trucks and my search didnt show much.

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
Wasn't there something like 79 3/4 ton panels made one of the 67-72 years? I would say that is pretty rare.

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
Supposedly, 4x4 suburbans are among the lower numbers produced...approx 6K from '67-72. Now, suppose that there are 4x4 panel trucks....I need to pull out my Truck Data book and see what combo might be made, and be unusual.
This is an interesting post. Hope something unusual pops up and photos accompany.

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
The online research library over at oldride.com has a bunch of info including production numbers for different model cars/trucks. I can tell you that mine (Fleetside LWB 72 C10) is definitely not rare: 273,249 made!
Here's the chevy link: http://www.oldride.com/library/chevrolet.html

Which is about right from what I have researched. Pretty sure mine was the 37th truck of that number, according to my VIN and the fact that most of my drive train has 1967 date codes.

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
I know 67 4x4 Panels are super rare... I wanna say there was only like 10-15 made?
Any early 4x4 is sort of rare. and any short fleet 4x4 is somewhat rare. And don't forger the ULTRA RARE LS7 CORVETTE 454 swb trucks. Insanley rare! |

I see it only lists 3/4T Longhorns, but I didn't see any 1T Longhorns like mine. Wonder how many 1T's were made. A 1T 4x4 longhorn with BBC would be cool though if they produced them.

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
Only 8 1967 3/4 4x4 panels made. (update, this is Chevy only, willing to bet that the 67 GMC 1/2 4x4 suburban in the wrecking yard that KrazyRay is talking about is even more rare then its chevy counter parts. )

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
I know of a 67 or 68 4x4 panel truck local to me that is still owned by the county that probably bought it new .The last time I saw it it was in pretty rough shape .Its been used as a Rescue Truck for as long as I can remember .It was lightly wrecked on one corner and one quarter panel was pretty rusted .I think it was either 3 or 4 speed in the floor with manual steering .One of the guys I work with used to drive it on rescue missions .I will try and find out where they keep it stored and get some pics and info on it.

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
I think one thing one needs to consider is the factory options on the truck ie:
My 1970 C 10 has the following factory options: 402BB AC Buckets with Console Guages with Tach Tinted Windows CST 400 Turbo Automatic LWB Two Tone Paint Now.... We need to remember in 1970 GM had thier strike So the production numbers were down....My truck isn't rare but I believe the way this truck was optioned makes it a little more rare for 1970. Just a thought. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
I think a 1972 SWB Cheyenne Super / Sierra Grande with 402, auto and a few goodies would be pretty rare, from the factory anyway. However, there are probably 20 times more of these trucks that are cloned. They pop up on ebay pretty often. With a keen eye, you can tell that most are not the real deal.

As one person once said...
Rare doesn't always mean valuable but interesting ...

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
Chassis/Cowl trucks are the rarest of the rare. Less around 48 in 68 either C/10 or C/20.

Re: Rarest 67-72 Trucks
Interesting posts so far ,keep them coming as Im learning alot from you guys. As far as value goes Im not into these trucks for what they may or may not be worth ,I just like them . Im just very curious about all these old trucks we so love. The one thing I like more than anything is the way they drive and the way they look dont hurt. These old trucks are rugged and tough and just keep on going.
