Re: How much to sell your truck
This is a good thread. Liz is right, everything has a price. If I was asked to sell any of my three GM trucks I think I could sell them for the right price.
I estimate starting offer would have to equal the following with justification: The 1968 Chevrolet, LWB 1/2 TON, Step side, about $1000 to 1200. New cab and fender are coming for this truck, no rust and many new parts from the previous owners rebuild and a strong drive train. The 1970 GMC Sierra Grande Longhorn 3/4 TON, about $5000 to $6000. New bed and wood installed rebuilt 402 BB, RE-Covered seat, new tilt wheel column, new gauge cluster with Tach, replaced old rubber with all fresh rubber and new tires with 16 inch steel rims. Rust free pick up and no leaks. Many parts have been replaced by parts from this very board and its fine members. I have been rebuilding this for about 11 years. Front end is still not done yet. This one would be a hard one to sell, because this is my keeper and I resurrected it from the junk side. The 1972 Chevrolet, Cheyenne SUPER 1 TON, Longhorn about $3500 to 3800. Closest and most original truck I have ever seen in my lifetime. Has all the nice features like Tinted rear window, Hounds Tooth bench seat and side tool box. It came with buckets and had a two tone paint job, but the dealer removed them to make into a delivery work truck for Arrow Head Water. I am the 3rd owner. This truck has been here in the Ridgecrest area all its life from dealer to all three owners. Rust free and body is still straight like the dealer set all the body panels. I replaced the hood because of a big dent. If we were using a scale to grade our trucks on condition to functional ability; I would score it at a 9 because of how well it was taken care of over the years. This truck is definitely worth the original price paid on the lot when it was new. I do have too many trucks, but if someone really wanted one then these are the numbers in my head. My board name is not blue, so this is not a forsale solicitation to sell anything in anyway.

Re: How much to sell your truck
Not for sale.
But......If someone gave me the $15 large I have in this truck, the way it sits, it would be down the road. Don't get me wrong. I am enjoying working on her. With paint, I'm looking forward to putting in another ten. And about X number more hours on details. That way, when I'm "done", if I ever wanted to sell her, maybe I could get $15k.

Re: How much to sell your truck
I didn't post last year when this thread started, so here goes. My K20 is nothing special.... except to me. We've been together for 35 years and we're both showing our age. I'm sure it's only worth a few thousand, but it would take far more to replace it with anything I'd want to drive. I can't put a number on it, so we'll just say more than 20 grand, which has to be about 5 times what it's worth. In other words, I plan on keeping it until I can't drive it any more. When that day comes, one of my sons might want it. If so, the price will be $0.

Re: How much to sell your truck
Because you're offering your truck for sale, which is not the purpose of this thread.
More importantly, it's against forum rules unless you're a paid subscriber.

Re: How much to sell your truck
I too have been asked many times if my truck was for sale and I always tell them it's not but my wife says that if I ever were to sell I had better get enough to buy two of them. One for her and one for me, so I guess $10k would get my interest as well.

There's a lot of things I want to change on my truck but it's definitely not for sale.

Re: How much to sell your truck
No one in their right mind would even come close to paying what I have spent on this truck so when I can no longer drive it my daughter will get it along with the boat. then she can sell it if she wants.

Re: How much to sell your truck
When my wife and I began dating I had a pretty nice '85 Scottsdale K10 SWB. A short while after we married it burned. To the ground.
Some time after that I bought this '71 GMC K15 LWB. I like it a lot. The wife says "I thought you would keep the blue truck forever". I say "I didn't cause it to catch fire..." She says "I think we should keep the yellow truck like we had planned to keep the blue one - forever" So, I *say* the yellow truck is not for sale. My dad says "You would take fifteen grand if someone threw it down". He's probably right. The wife would be VERY unhappy, but I could probably replace it for that. And keep the peace at home. Maybe.

Re: How much to sell your truck
I won't ever be able to sell it for the simple fact that I will never be able to get what I have put into it. I've had it for less than a month and have already dropped 10K into my boosted motor build/ supporting mod's and it's not done yet, that's not including the overprice I paid for the truck itself.
Plus I got this truck for a reason, which is to build and customize it for me, not somebody else, so in theory I don't want to sell it point blank period! BUT........ If it came down to it, I would have to go open the envelope full of receipts, add it all up, and if that total could be matched I would consider selling it, no guarantee I'd let it go even then. Re: How much to sell your truck
The 70 will never be for sale. Everything else can be sold for what I have in parts in them, enough for me to break even and find another project. That's if I feel like selling it, about twice what I have in it is my asking price to those that ask on the street.
So: $Never for the 70 $15,000 for the 68 K20 $20,000 for the 63 Nova Old pic of the 70, it lays out now.

Re: How much to sell your truck
I'd let mine go for whatever the max bid is on this coming monday evening (ebay reserve is already met!) My goal is to build something hopefully HALF as nice as yours Sideways! Man oh man I love that truck. Been on a Custom Camper hunt for a litttle while now - I'm sure one will come out of the woodwork soon.

Re: How much to sell your truck
It's funny how many trucks come up "not for sale" in a "how much to sell your truck" thread.

Problem for most of us: 1) We love the trucks; 2) No one will give us what we've squandered on 'em; 3) Like our dogs, most of us think they're worth more than they are "actually" worth (see Items # 1 and #2). Still, it's fun to wonder what it would take to watch the baby drive away....As for me? One day it's $15K...the next 135 bucks might take her.
