Great job on the blazer rebuild. Did you paint it yourself?
What type of fender flares do you have on there.
I love the color combo you went with on paint. Nobody ever seems to repaint back to the darker earth colors like that. If I ever get the chance to repaint on it will be like yours.

-Trevor Thanks, glad you like it. Yeah, I painted it myself. I wanted to go with earth tone colors to go with the tan camper. I was thinking old school for the colors also, trying to make my 87 look as much like a 77 as I could... The metallic brown looks great when the sun hit it! The fender flares are from J C Whitney. They are called "flexy flares". $90 bucks. I built the camper and blazer for about $3600 bucks total. Lots of work though, fixing rust and body work and interior... installed 2009 Dodge Durango seats in it, new carpet, painted the dash, door panels and the sheet metal portions of the doors... Alaska is beautiful, in summer.... all 4 months. September is "fall", October it snows. Snow stays on the ground until mid April. Summer, hardly any darkness, winter, hardly any sunlight. So we get the good with the bad...

WOW!!!! What all was required to put the camper in the new k5 or did it just go right it? I know the floors are different in the newer ones compaired to the older ones. I wanted to do the same thing to me 88 k5. BTW it looks GREAT!

-Spudz: The camper went right on. Funny thing is, I've been working on cars for just over 30 years now, always been a hot rodder. I've had the same car for 26 years now. I've never owned a chevy before. But I remember the Chalet from when I was a kid. Someone owned one about a block away from our house. I remember riding my bike up to it, trying to look inside, but I was too short. I really love camping/fishing but I don't like camping next to someone's camp site when they are partying, or their dog is barking or playing loud music. I like the outdoors for what it is. The Chalet allows me to do just that. I had seen a Chalet for sale in Seward, Alaska about 5 years ago and I told myself if I could find one, I'd buy it. I had also seriously considered a 4X4 camper van. Something to fix up. I'm glad I found the Chalet before the Van....

I've added the front light bar for my lightforce "moose lights". They work really well on the highway. Will be adding my HID offroad lights soon as I make a rack for them ( on top of the cab ). Here's a couple more pics....

Great looking blazer, I love the color scheme. I'm just curious, how did you get the turn signals to mount behind the 81-82 grille? That's my favorite 80's grille, for sure. Thanks!

Your41plague12: My blazer was in pretty rough shape when I first got it. The only reason the front blinkers fit behind that grill is because the mounting tabs were broken off when I got them. I took a piece of sheet metal, bent it in an "L" shape. Screwed it to the radiator support surround, and used heavy duty zip ties to secure the blinker to the "L" bracket... it works for now..... Update. The crush sleeve in the 12 bolt crushed. I've been searching for a 6 lug 14 bolt but only one I found so far had 3.42's and I have 3.73's in mine. Still looking. So in the mean time, I'm putting in another used 12 bolt. Pinion bearing feels ok, same as the gears. I replaced the outer wheel bearings as they felt a little worn... hope it lasts long enough for me to find my 14 bolt...

thats an awesome build. i live in wasilla and my parents have a chalet they use every weekend for motocross. i hated it when they first got it but they are actually really cool. i wanna make a buggy out of one. post more pics!

Update: Even though it's freezing cold out, I think I'm gonna go ahead and replace my refrigerator. No use changing it out in spring/summer when I'd rather be camping, 4x4ing etc. I'll try to take some pics along the way... it's -9 degrees out currently...
