Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
I know that some of you all have done this and was wondering how you did it? Also what series of gauges did you use? I am tired of the less than satisfactory factory gauges when the health of 9000 dollar engine is dependent on it. Pictures would be great if anyone would want to post them!

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
There are several in the tech areas of the FAQ section of the board. Pretty good step by step on them too.

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
I cant pull anything up un the FAQ section. No matter how you spell, or word anything. I'm a member on many, many different forums for many different vehicles, and well.... The FAQ section on all of the forums are useless.....

Start your searching here and look thru the topics.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=262547 YOu are correct though the FAQ in the upper bar does not help much (least with me it don't)

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
Is that gage cluster plug and play or is additional wiring needed ? That looks amazing and I'd love to have one.

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
He wires it up to a harness, but you have to hard wire the harness to the truck. Its really no big deal. Doesnt seem to hard.
I dont know about an 84 Look up board member Putter and send him a pm, he is very good to deal with. |

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
I would like to see the back and how it wires to the truck itself. I want to put new gauges in my truck but dont want to hack the wiring harness.

Does that wiring bracket connect straight up to the factory harness?

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
Ok found the wiring diagram on the site. Are the any pictures that show the actual install. Im kinda a visual learner and would be better with some install pics. I would hate to get confused cutting up my wiring on my DD to do this and be stuck. I may try to find a cut wiring harness at a yard the play with ahead of time.

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
Here are my Gauges. I had another member "Putter" put together for me. He rigged it so when you turn on the high beams the center gauges goes from a white light to a blue one. He took the paint off of the gauge bezel, so from black to a brushed aluminum look.

Just wondering...... can a panel that doesn't have the 4 small gauges along the bottom be used?

Re: Autometer gauges in stock dash bezel
I saw these a while ago and decided to do this in my truck.
I'm using the factory 3 hole dash (bought off rockauto) with an autometer 5" tach, 5" quad gauge, and a 3 3/3 speedo in the center. My truck came with no dash, so I have no starting point. I'll have to design some sort of backing to the dash since I can't source the backing piece. |
