Post your 1947 - 1959 Chevrolet & GMC Tubbed Stepside Beds.
Re-tubbing my bed and I have an idea the way I want it, but wanna see your beds and the way you guys done it.

These are from a late 60's to early 70's Chevy truck. You can buy these new or search the bone yards. A sheet of aluminum will go on top of the plywood.

I went with mini tubs (2 3/4") just to allow me to run the 10" wide rims.

You actually use gas to thin the rustoleum?
Do you use a primer under it?

No primer.
Well we use a little bit of gas.
The gasoline is being used as a catalyst.
Gasoline is a petroleum bi-product which works well with the Oil Based Rust-Oleum.
It really works well!

I got mine for free when I cut the floor out of a Dakota and welded it in.

Just curious where you got the tubs from? I've seen some that were fiberglass and some that are metal. Which ones do you have? Any tips or tricks or anything you would've done differently with them? Thanks

Mine are the steel ones from Dennis Carpenter truck parts. I like the shape of them but they were not cheap and I cut a lot off them since the floor of the bed was raised for the suspension. No regrets other then how much I spent on them.....It took some time to mold them into the angle strips of the bed sides.
