Did some searching on here and came up dry. Anyone try a Hydra Boost setup from a 1 ton on a C10 with disk/drum? I'm itching to get going on the power brake swap, but don't want to run into vacuum issues later as my plan is to run a lumpy, long winded cam. Plus, I think it'd be cool!

Got some work done on the little Chebby yesterday and today

Thought I'd share what I learned an put a few pictures up.

First is a little clarification on the chop-job to the front springs. I cut one wrap off (the drop looks like a lock washer). Some folks have said it nets about a 2" drop, while I believe it's more like 1-1/4". I couldn't really measure actual ride height before and after as I did more than one thing at a time. Here's a pic that might make it more clear. If you measure from bottom to bottom it's about 1-1/4". If you measure bottom to top its 2".

Next were the conversion spindles I got from POL. These things made it super easy. Truly a bolt on other than the dust shields. There are bosses in the casting, but they are not drilled/tapped. Easy enough to transfer the holes and drill/tap to 5/16-18

The OEM dust shields require a little tweaking to get them on. The caliper and therefore the shield is "rotated" back slightly from the stock position. With the drop spindle and this rotation, the lower A-arm clearance hole is in the wrong spot. I simply trimmed as requried for clearance.

I cleaned up the rotors and calipers I got from the u-pick bone yard and got them on. They are in nearly perfect condition and well worth the few bucks and my time.

Lastly, I threw on the "some otha mutha's rubber" that came with my rear end. They're big poofy truck size tires (235/75-15), but I had to have a look. It's gonna be cool with some rally wheels and lower profiles!

Had to throw a shot of the big Chebby in there too.

The difference in the height of the spring uncompressed isn't what people are talking about...it's the drop with the weight applied that's around 2" from stock...

So I had a few hundred squirreled away with intent of getting some 10" steelies for the rear. I instead wound up scoring a sweet wire-feed! Got this rig for $200!!! I had enough left to grab them caps off of cragslist too. I still have some irons in the fire tho. I just shipped a D60 posi to a guy up on Alaska. I've also got some lookers for an old VW I've got listed. I also have a nice hydraulic pump up on e-bay too. I'm hoping to have my wheels and 295/50-15 x 235/60-15 here soon!

Thanks man! All along I had been thinking rally wheels, but after looking around here a bit I was sold on the poverty caps. I'm struggling with tire size now. I really want the 295's on back, but I'm worried they'll be too short. I don't want the thing to look like a skateboard. So far I'm thinking 295/50 in back and 235/60 in front.

Need help with the steelies! All along I thought I got a "pair" of wheels with the five lug rear I bought. Turns out those wheels are not twins. One of them has numbers stamped in it that lead me to believe they are 8". The other has no markings. I Google'd the numbers and came up flat! Is the one 8" I have stock or rare? Is it for sure an 8"? Where do I find a match?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on wheels and tires, BUT i'm still not exactly sure what I want. So far its.....

295/50-15 on 10x15 (4.5 BS) for the rear
235/60-15 on 8x15 (4.25 BS) for the front.

I've looked all over for photos and builds and just can't feel certain that this combo is going to work. I really want the front tires to tuck and the rear to be at about zero. Think they'll rub?

Help me out here.....I'm itching to place the order!

They should fit, I have a set of BFG 295-50/R15 on 15X10 Outlaws I bought for the 93 I let my son have. I put them on my 70 to see what they look like but couldn't set it on the ground at the time. I am worried that they might look to short. I'm goin to mount them Saturday and I will let you know.

I'm likely going to put stock springs back up front and like a 4" drop out back. What I don't want to do is pony up for all this new rubber and find out I've gotta go back to stock ride height to make them work.

I think this is where I'm headed. This guy has the stance nailed! I'd sure like wider tires, but I think they'll be too short, or they'll rub.

Allright, I think I've decided..... This week I'm going to order my 8's and 10's along with the 295/50's and 245/60's. I really like the lowered stance of the truck in the link above, but I'd agree that it's probably just a little to low for my practical use. I also think that you have to go too skinny to gettem tucked. I was also heavily influenced by the "ride height Nazi" that does all the sanding! He did find this Youtube video that was hard to argue with! One of the coolest C10's I've seen yet. It's worth a look.


We got the poverty caps all cleaned up and ready to go. I'm way exicted to get the suspension set and get rolling on the body work this winter.

Hoping to get this thread rolling in the next few months!

OK here are some pix with the 295-50X15's I don't think they are tall enough.
The wheels have a 4" set back I think a 5" would be better. We have 275-60's on my sons 93 they are around 1.5 " taller and 1" narrower I am thinking about some 30" - 33" tall tires for mine. I will be selling the wheels and tires I have
I also have 15X8 for the fronts W/O tires

I can't find a 295/60-15??? The 50 series that I'm looking at is advertised at 26.7" tall and 12.2" wide at the section. The wheels I'm getting are 4.5" back spacing.

The tire looks sort of close to the wheel tub. You think there's room for the 5" backspace you'd prefer? I'll only be 4.5.

I don't think 1 more inch would hurt but I need to figure tires height & width I got a deal on these I can sell them to get different ones. I still need to put the front wheels on and see how they look but I'm now thinking 8" might be to wide for the fronts.
