Can someone check these measurements? Is this K5 lifted?
Can someone tell me what the rear hub to fender distance should be for (approximately, I realize there are a lot of variables) a stock or lifted Blazer. The '79 I'm most likely trading for a in a few weeks is 23" from center of hub to the bottom of the fender in the rear. Don't have front measurements. Also, the front wheels seem set back really far compared to the opening. Don't notice this on Dad's '85 2WD pickup. Is that normal for a 4WD?
I'm trying to decide what to do about tires/wheels. I have a very nice set of 33/11.5/16's that I would like to put on it, but that means buying 16" wheels and a lift if they rub. Also considering talking Dad out of a set of 31/10.5/15's that are new,and on a truck he doesn't drive, but he's not really too interested in letting them go. thanks! |

I have a stock M1009, it's got heavier duty springs but otherwise seems to be about the same height as a factory civilian 4x4. I'll measure it tomorrow.

I'm at 21" from the fender lip to the center of the rear axle hub. The front axle is centered in the wheel-wells same as my 2wd K5. Post some pictures if you can.

Here's a side shot of NCTyphoonKid's 4x4, this is what a stock K5 should look like.

Well, didn't get to bring the Blazer home. Brakes needed more work than we had time for. Did get new sway bar bushings, tie rod ends and steering stabilizer. Also, pulled the bug guard and running boards off, and put on a set of 15x8 rallys with 255/60/15's. Still plan on putting on 33's.
Also, it appears there IS a lift on the truck, and it would seem about 2". The rear springs are new, and front appears to have an AAL. Will be heading back down in a few weeks to fix the brakes. Guess I need to start advertising my Dodge... |
