Man, this is an awesome build! I love all the attention to details and using the best part available. I bet as a mechanic you hate not being in on the day to day work on it. I dig those custom badges you had made. What kind of paint did you use to make the background highlights in the letters and valleys? Subscribed for sure.

Yeah, have kinda been sliding off of this hill for a while now... Am keeping some of the running gear "stock" so it's easier to get parts in the future & the basic body will be stock as far as nothing shaved & all.

Yeppers, don't want my air box turning into a bug trap... Will reduce any "ram air" effect, but I'll still be getting just the outside cooler air which is WAY better than drawing it in from the engine bay!

Well, also had this shot I didn't get around to posting...
It's a better overall shot of the engine bay looking over it from the passenger side. It also gives a little better perspective on how the engine bay is starting to look with the new air intake & battery mounts. |

Thanks man, me too! Like I said, original plan was for a K&N intake kit for an '08 truck, but that just didn't fit right with the clearance... Glad it didn't though, because this came out WAY better & really looks as if it belongs in there too in my mind! I can't wait to see it with the cover I am having made for it installed!!!!

My plan just keeps evolving & changing as the time goes by & things getter a little nicer...
Original plan for interior involved a color scheme change, the new vinyl Corbeau seats (and matching the rear bench to them), new dash pad & rubber flooring. Well, as we've slid down the slope to being more up to "show quality", I think the interior planning is getting a re-vamp! I am going to have the seats totally recovered with black leather on the outside & maybe some charcoal microfiber material on the centers. Roman has already talked about covering the LMC door panels & dash pad in leather, so I am sure we could mix it up there to. Since I will have the red stripping on the hood as well as on the badges - we may go with a red double-stitch on everything which would look cool I think. He'll recover the headliner in the same charcoal material & then recover the Suburban overhead console sides in black leather to offset it. He's also going to make-up his own floor carpeting rather than using the rubber stuff & then I'll just get all weather mats to go down over it for driving. Working on some custom billet trim items for the door like in the rendering & have a company that can do it when we get there too. I don't want to go overboard with it really (no TV's.... hehe), but definitely a little more upscale than originally planned. |

Damn dude! I like you but your crazy! Really im very jealous! By the time this is all said and done this has got to be about a 60k dollar truck! Easy! But instead of just buying some show room truck, you will have something truly unique, better then new, and show worthy! Can not wait to see this thing done!

Funny, I get the whole "you're crazy" a lot from my wife too....
 Hate to say it, but will have more than that in it when it's all said & done - however, that amount was my original justification for doing this. I really don't like the new trucks in that you can't option them how you want (i.e. manuals are impossible anymore in a gas engine or in a half-ton) - it's a "if you get this, you also get this" & most times I don't want "that"...  Plus I have always been partial to the square body design over all others. It's going to end up being a lot more than I had originally planned & budgeted for, but it will definitely be something special & there won't be ANYTHING jsut like it out there anywhere!!! With luck it'll be featured in a magazine or two & hopefully win a few show categories to boot! Appreciate you following the build & hopefully I keep having more to show you as the weeks tick by.

I am planning to have Mario detail & paint my engine a little something like this (sorry, pic stole from another thread...) while he's got it out. Want the red to match the red used in the badge & what'll be used to do the pin stripping around the hood stripes - probably Ford Vermillian Red.
Still not 100% sure what we are gonna do with the 3-pc engine covers - I was thinking just a nice matching pin stripe job around the perimeter, but who knows - we'll have to brainstorm on that one... Most likely will have him also hit the transmission with the Hot Rod black along with re-coating the transfer as well. The bell housing & top cover on the trans will remain in bare aluminum finish to offset it. |

Sent Del another email today. I am already having them look into upgrading me to some gas slotted rotors from Stainless Steel Brakes for the front & rear, but am just not happy having the stock cast iron calipers on there - both because of the bland looks & for their overall stopping power...
Found a site called PolyPerformance that carries a line of billet 4-piston calipers & lets you enter the rotor thickness, so gonna have the shop check that out for me. They'd most likely have to fab up some mounts, but that's really where they shine, so no worries there... The factory '05 rear calipers I'd leave alone, but just match the pads to whatever we run on the fronts. All the calipers will be red when finished to match other exterior trim. |

Just a simple HELL NO to Lambo doors!!!!

But, it would change the look of the truck to much and also make repairs to costly in the future, because they would likely be one off parts. Like you said it's going to be a daily driver eventually, for wear and tear parts like door hinges (bushing and pins) I'd try and leave them stock, like you are.

OK OK OK....sorry about the lambo doors...I was looking for examples of the suicide doors.
a friend of mine has them on his new Silverado..I think 2006 model3/4ton or 1 ton version truck....and it makes getting into the back seat very easy... I wont mention it again...promise....love the build....(even without the lambo doors :-))

Good word back from Poly Performance!!! Those CNC Series calipers they make are just ordered by rotor thickness & then they make a billet spacer block accordingly - SCORE!!! Sent all the email traffic to Del so they can call & verify before ordering.

very sweet build, I have a 79 Big 10 myself that i got from my dad that his dad bought
new and i love the rendetion of your Big 10 as well. I will say this your K30 will be one of the baddest trucks i have seen. Awesome work Congrats on a sweet build. |

The shop wired in my LED headlights today & said that they look "AWESOME"!!! Hope that I'll get pics of 'em in there later this week. They're working on some of the other wiring for the front end.
