68/68 to 69/70 CHEVY core support differences explained
69/70 core supports have an additional support spot welded on that 67/68 core supports do not. Here on the left is a graft from a 67, and to the right is the additional 70 mount. to use a 69/70 with a 67/68 grill, you'll have to remove the extra support.

6 spot welds made easy by a spot weld cutter. notice the 70 still have the recess stamped for the headlight spring, but not the hole drilled to accept the spring end.

That was easy! not so fast. check the hole that remains. the 70 is in the wrong spot, not rolled to have the headlight bucket rest smoohtly, and oblong vs a perfect cirlce on the 67-68.

You could mark and cut the square adjuster holes, and extend the large hole to accommodate the correct headlight location, but if you can cut up a rusty 67/68 core like me, measure carefully for mounting hole alignment (I did find them different slightly, so I kept both 70 fender mounting holes. We'll see) you can graft in the correct hole and mounts.

you could knock the headlight extensions off of a gmc core support and be done. (67-68 gmc cores actually have the holes for the adjusters and spring)

Not sure on this, but if you measure from outside of the headlight hole to the outside of the other hole. The 67-68 is a longer measurment. I checked on this one time and I think that is what happened.

well, i was about half right. here`s a pic of the backside of two gmc cores. the one on the right is a 67-68 type, note the square holes for the adjusting screws and the raised pad and hole for the spring. the hole for the headlight is in the right place too. you can knock the extensions from this one and have a 67-68 chevy core. the other is a 69-72 type gmc core, it would have to be done like 67mater is doing his

Re: 68/68 to 69/70 CHEVY core support differences explained
After my truck was reassembled after a paint job, I noticed the headlight bucket is lower on the driver side. all measurements appear the same but both sides except the headlight bucket. can it be removed and raised up and bolt the back in? Has anyone had a similar problem? it's rather strange because before disassembly everything was lined up properly.

I post a photo of it but I'm really not sure how since I don't see a browse computer for files.
