700R4 in a 67 pickup
Do you have to change out the stock cross member to run a 700r4 Tranny? The truck had a TH400 in it originally. Thanks for any help with this.

You should have no problems mounting the 700R4 with that crossmember. You will however, have to move it to a different location on the frame rails. I am planning the same with my 68 short 454 truck that is currently under construction. P.S. Don't forget to get the tv cable adjusted properly or it could be bad news[ if you have'nt had one before] .Jim

I left the crossmember in the stock location, and just added a plate to move the mount to the new location. Mine had a TH400 originally as well.

Thanks for the info. That will be helpful. When I put one in my Sons 64 Shortwide I had to get a different crossmember and it was kinda spendy so Im glad I dont have to be out that money.

Two things to think about...
For $40 or so a CPP tubular crossmember is a good deal if the above are important to you. It bolts on the bottom flange of the frame only and allows access to pan bolts.

Porterbuilt has a nice tubular crossmember too. Great guys to work with and less a headache than CPP. Go with porterbuilt.

Crossmember is on its way and even bolts in the same holes as the ones that are in the crossmember thats in it now. Thanks again for all the info.
