Re: 67 vs 68-72 bedsides

I know the taillight bezels are also different, so there are mounting holes around the taillight opening on the 69-72, right? Is the opening shape or size any different? Can I put 67-68 taillight bezels on a 69-72 bedside, weld up the 69-72 bezel mounting holes, and have the same look as a 67-68 bedside?

Re: 67 vs 68-72 bedsides

From all the reproduction bedsides I have seen (both 67 and 68-72 as well as goodmark and tri-plus brands....) I have not seen any with any holes drilled for trim. No side trim or taillight trim is pre-drilled in these panels.

Opening size is the same for the lenses.

Re: 67 vs 68-72 bedsides

'67 bedsides are 1/4" longer,1/8" taller, and the stake holes are more rounded in the corners..........................J/K!!!

Everything is exactly the same except the marker light holes. So,all other parts interchange. The tail light trim is listed as different because the stye changed in '69. 67/68s had trim across the top of the gate and down to the bottom of the tail lamps, similar to the front trim. In '69,when the grille surrounds dominated the front, the rear trim changed to surround the tail lamps and go across the bottom of the tailgate as well. Except with Cheyenne/Sierra and Cheyenne Super/Sierra Grandes that eliminated the lower gate trim and used the wide woodgrain band across the center.

Re: 67 vs 68-72 bedsides

yup, you guys are right. The holes I was envisioning in my head were the holes that hold on the 67-68 trim. Sorry about the confusion. I should have gone and looked at the bedside before typing!
