Guys, My AC compressor is shot and I just want to yank the AC out.

Is there anything I need to do other than disconnecting from the ac condenser and the firewall? Are there plugs coming out of the firewall? Or is there something that I need to weld?

Is the large black box for AC? I thought it also has something to do with the heater core...

The large box is the A/C evaporator and blower. If you want to keep a heater, which is inside the truck, you need to leave that box in place. Disconnect the pipe from the condenser to the A/C box, and the pipe from the A/C box to the compressor, cap them off, and that should do it. The two hoses that come out through the firewall right below the top circle on your picture are for the heater, as is the the vacuum-operated valve in your bottom circle. Also don't forget to terminate the wire that goes to the compressor - depending on how you have your controls set, that can be hot.

Should I use anything specific to cap them off?

And which wire goes to the compressor to terminate? The vaccum operated valve you mention. Does this stay as well?

Your best bet is to remove EVERYTHING a/c related and send it to me!

What can I use to cap those off with? Hardware store items? Anything in particular? I'm quite a n00b when it comes to these things.

I used duct tape when I was putting AC in to my truck.
You just want to keep the chunks out.
Legally you can't blow that R12 into the atmposhere but if you do the way to do it is to crack the fitting loose by the POA valve and let it out slowly.
