step shaver install

can anyone tell me if they have used one of the stepshaver kits off of ebay on there 88-98 trucks and how hard they are to install? i would like to put one on just not sure of how much work they are! thank you.

If you have never done fiberglass or body work I wouldn't try myself. It is messy, and a lot of work...

Also do you have a link to the kit? I did one years ago but I thought they stopped making them which is why I traded for a fleetside...I'd really like to do a stepper again.....

They require a TON of work. If you're not a bodyman or don't know a good bodyman, you're in for a real surprise. You have to completely cut off the rear step and fiberglass in the new pieces. It's a good idea when the step is cut off to leave the fender lip all the way down to the bottom, otherwise you'll be fabbing that up.

I've only watched the process from a specator's point of view, but I sure as heck wouldn't attempt the job on my own. I love the look, though.

I know East Coast Customs stopped making them several years ago. No love for us. They do pop up on eBay from time to time, but I have also found this place selling them:
