Differences between 67 and 72 Truck (NOT 68,69,70,71) first and last year of 'em
I know those two years are some differences between them, but are some special differences (only items) like rear view mirror bracket 67 only and 72 mounted on the windshield, radio buttons, doors and someone knows more...

Options and grilles seem to be the biggest changes in my very limited experience.Powertrains and trim packages are options I guess.

I guess the question is more like can someone list all the '67-only items and '72-only items? Because, some of the differences between '67 and '72 are the same differences between '67 and 68/69/70/71 and same differences between '72 and 68/69/70/71

Re: Differences between 67 and 72 Truck (NOT 68,69,70,71) first and last year of 'em
67's did not have side markers, 72's did. 67's frame did not have a dimple at the steering box, 72's did. If '67s had power steering it was ram assist instead of the more common type. 67's did not have a screw on the door below the wing window 72's does. 67's had tilt back seats, 72's don't. I am sure there are more differences.

Re: Differences between 67 and 72 Truck (NOT 68,69,70,71) first and last year of 'em
Good point Tim, here is a start:
67 only: -Rearview mirror bracket -Ext door handle (mounting hole angle) -Doors have different hole shape and mount for ext handles -Small back window (unless panoramic optioned) -If a CST, the style of knobs on radio and switches -If a CST, the crinkle/wrinkle finish on glovebox door -Handles for ventwindows have texture lines -Bench seat tilts forward -No side markers -Interior door handles are slimmer

Re: Differences between 67 and 72 Truck (NOT 68,69,70,71) first and last year of 'em
'72-only:
Doors with dimples/screws under wing vent divider molded door panels shafts for door/window controls longer mirror attached to windshield Highlander grille surround has no accent black like '71 ummm... This is all pickup. Probably more. The Suburban a/c overhead was unique '67-0nly: wing vent latches not through glass interior door handles no integral p/s bullseye reverse lens (right?) seat belts base model interior paint either fawn or silver grey buddy buckets standard on CST ummm...I give up

Re: Differences between 67 and 72 Truck (NOT 68,69,70,71) first and last year of 'em
Front turn signals on 67 were in the grill and in the front bumper on 72's. And the front bumper brackets are further out to the sides due to the turn signal lights being in the bumper.

Here is a couple of pics. Hood difference is the big one. As well as trim.

Re: Differences between 67 and 72 Truck (NOT 68,69,70,71) first and last year of 'em
72's and 67's have the longest list of what different. 67 has too many to count, and on 72 theres like 20 or 25 things different from all years.....
FUN FACT: any 67 chevy GMC cab made in fremont california plant has ripples above the heater motor hole on the fire wall. also 67s have a different firewall then 68 or 68 72 |

Re: Differences between 67 and 72 Truck (NOT 68,69,70,71) first and last year of 'em
The following info is from this site sorry the photos didnt copy.
http://www.pattson.com/maych/67_72_chevy.htm 1967-1972 Model Differences Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pickup Trucks For identification purposes the 1967 through 1972 Chevrolet 1/2 pickup trucks can be divided into three groups. These three groups are each comprised of 2 model years. Each 2-year group is similar in appearance and different from the other 2-year groups. The groups and their most distinguishing characteristics are -- 1967 and 1968 -Low angle hood front -Large rectangular grille openings 1969 and 1970 -Steep angle hood front with bowtie -Aluminum grille bar 1971 and 1972 -Steep angle hood front with no bowtie -Egg-crate grill with bowtie -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The characteristics that distinguish one year from the other within the 2-year groups are detailed in the following table. The bullets to the left of each photo list the major visual characteristics for that year. The narrative below each model year describes some of the different trim levels and equipment options for that model year. The narratives do not detail all of the numerous trim levels and equipment options that were possible, they only serve to point out the major model differences. 1967 3Small Standard Rear Window 3"Chevrolet" Hood Letters 3Low Angle Hood Front 3Rectangular Grille Opening 3Bowtie In Center of Grille 3Parking Lights in Grille 3No Side Markers 3Bowtie Fender Emblems The 1967 model came in either short or long wheelbase with a stepside or fleetside box. In the stepside, a wood bed floor is standard. In the fleetside, a steel bed floor is standard and a wood bed floor is optional. Several trim levels are available. The top-of-the-line CST model has lower bright trim installed at lower body line. Standard engines are a 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder or a 283 cubic inch V8. Optional engines are a 292 cubic inch 6 cylinder or a 327 cubic inch V8. The pickup has a hand operated parking brake and drum brakes front and rear. 1968 3Large Rear Window 3"Chevrolet" Hood Letters 3Low Angle Hood Front 3Rectangular Grille Opening 3Bowtie In Center of Grille 3Parking Lights in Grille 3Front and Rear Side Markers 3Bowtie Fender Emblems The 1968 model is almost identical to the 1967 pickup. The most obvious difference is the addition of side markers front and rear to comply with new traffic safety laws. The side markers in 1968 where only reflectors, not actual lights. The small rear window is discontinued. Some models have both upper and lower side trim. The CST models have bright trim surrounding front grille and headlamp area. The standard 283 cubic inch V8 was replaced by a 307 cubic inch V8. The 327 cubic inch V8 was still available, along with the new 396 cubic inch V8. The 1968 model still has a hand operated parking brake and drum brakes front and rear. 1969 3Bowtie in Center of Hood Front 3Steep Angle Hood Front 3Aluminum Grille Bar with Parking Lights and "Chevrolet" 3Parking Lights in Grille 3Front and Rear Side Marker Lights 3Plastic "Egg-Crate" Inner Grille 3Model/Series Fender Emblems The totally redesigned grille and the steep hood front distinguishes the 1969 model from the previous year's models. Unlike the 1968 models, the side markers in 1969 where lighted. The optional 327 cubic inch V8 was replaced by the 350 cubic inch V8. Upper and lower body trim was an option. The lower body trim had black banding on the Custom models and woodgrain banding on the CST models. The parking brake was changed from hand operated to foot operated but the brakes are still drum front and rear. 1970 3Bowtie in Center of Hood Front 3Steep Angle Hood Front 3Aluminum Grille Bar with Parking Lights and "Chevrolet" 3Parking Lights in Grille 3Horizontal Fins on Inner Grille 3Model/Series Fender Emblems The 1970 model is virtually identical to the 1969 model. The only visual difference is the appearance of the plastic inner grille. The "egg-crate" inner grilles are identical in design on both the 1969 and 1970, but a different paint scheme makes them appear different. The graphic on the right illustrates the different paint schemes. The 396 cubic inch V8 was replaced with the 402 cubic inch V8 (called the 400). This is also the first model year to offer an optional tilt steering wheel. The 1970 model still has drum brakes front and rear. 1971 3Bowtie in Center of Grille 3Steep Angle Hood Front 3"Egg-Crate" Grille 3Parking Lights in Bumper 3Horizontal Fins on Inner Grille 3Model/Series Fender Emblems The two most visually distinctive features of the 1971 model are the new "egg-crate" grille and the parking lights in the front bumper. The bowtie emblem is relocated from the hood to the center of the grille. The anodized aluminum surrounding the grille has a black stripe. The top trim package is now called "Cheyenne" rather than CST. 1971 was the first year for front wheel disk brakes. 1972 3Bowtie in Center of Grille 3Steep Angle Hood Front 3"Egg-Crate" Grille 3Parking Lights in Bumper 3Horizontal Fins on Inner Grille 3Model/Series Fender Emblems Viewed from the outside, the only two visual differences between the 1971 and 1972 models are the rearview mirror is now glued to the windshield and there is no black stripe around the grille. Internal differences include a new door panel design and the addition of a strengthening screw on the inside of the door below the vent window division bar.
