Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
"C'mon down! You're the next contestant on "The Price is WRONG!"
I'm sure the price of real estate in SoCal; depressed though it may be, has got to be higher than most other places. Kabwe/Bam - Man, I really try NOT to be "oversensitive". I kinda hate that. I'm Mexican, and that's it. Ok, I'm Mexican-American, hispanic, etc. I say, "Call me whatever you want as long as there's a smile on your face!" I'm not one of those people that are like, "...my parents are from East L.A. but I'm Spaneesh (nose-in-the-air types). ![]() But I hate the idea of being INSENSITIVE too. Ok, enough of that schit. I'm more a Hotrod-American than I am anything else anyway. I'm gonna come down to the Inglewood show one of these days and yell out, "Which of you guys answers to the nickname "Bam" or Kabwe" cause I wanna meet you!" Tri5nerd - You're gonna have to eat some more to be as fat as I am. In the mean time, I'm staying on your good side since you did me a solid by giving me that cluster - thanks again by the way. I'm blown away by the fabrication chops You (Kab/Bam), Larry, etc have. What REALLY blows me away is that it seems a lot of it is self taught! And how you get the time to do it all I'll never know. I'm having a tough time just sanding and rattle canning a few parts. Lawns to mow, cars to wash, etc. Onward....MORE TRUCKS! |

Figuratively "stuffing a sock in it" on non-Kabwe truck talk. Kab, Have you ever shown us a picture of your truck when you first bought it? It might be intersting to take stock of all the changes you've made to it so far. |

This is what it looked like when I first got it. ![]() ![]() ![]() I had it at this point before I decided to go with a 55 front clip. ![]() ![]() Then the 55 front clip ![]() ![]() The things we get ourselves into. The good thing is I'm done with all the body mods and fab work, well at least I think I am. I'm finally at the point of primer after many hours of rust repair and (it seems every panel, but I had to have a big window) cab corners, roof, doors, 58 fenders, 55 fenders, floors, rear of cab inside and out. Man will I ever seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Quote:

Hey, that's a four-eyed truck, you're cheatin!
![]() Seriously, MAN you have taken a whip to that thing, huh? How long have you been on it and more importantly how much more do you think you have on body mods, then final body "work" - filler, prime, blocking, blocking, blocking, did I mention, blocking? |

I'm done with all the body mods, its about final body work and assembly now. Which will take me a while because I do every thing myself. I've had the truck about 7 years but only have been really working hard on it for about 4. I could have been done by now if I did not keep changing my mind. Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
You have spend more time on rebuilding this truck to your likes than GM spend on it new. Who cares if it's a 55/58.
There are plenty of "original" trunks around for "those people" to look at. Good Job on what you have done. |

All kidding aside, the only reason I changed the front end was because I have a 55 Chevy 210 and I thought it would be cool to have them at least look like the same year. Last edited by Kabwe; 09-30-2011 at 02:57 PM. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Oh yeah, I was just teasing....
"Elder" Rogue is the right descripion! Geez, dude. ![]() (If we don't tease each other what's the fun?) Kabwe, You know a mod I've never seen but wondered about? Your comment about making the truck sorta match the '55 car reminded me: Instead of just eliminating the round signal light below the headlight, what about substituting a quasi-'55 Chevy car signal light? You'd probably have to make it smaller to fit/look right. Have you ever seen that? I have not but have wondered about it. Maybe someone could Photochop it on a truck to see what it would look like? |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I've thought about it when I shaved mine, but I liked the shaved look better. Its more sporty looking to me. The coolest 55 parking light mod I've seen is this I thought it was pretty slick. This is a 55 Nomad. If I show you the whole Nomad you may faint, because when I saw it in person I almost did.lol
Modified (He removed the bezel and welded all the seams close it looks slick) ![]() Stocked ![]() Last edited by Kabwe; 09-30-2011 at 08:11 PM. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
That IS a very nice mod. I think I'd only do it on a very modified, show-type car or truck but still well done.
