Looking at a 68 CST
Hi all!
I have stumbled onto this 68 cst long bed, original paint and it looks to be in pretty nice shape or should I say was. Owner had it parked in his parking stall when some dude ran into it and pushed it into a trailer, so sad! Any how it is still a nice truck and everything is in working order including the ac. What do you think a fair price would be for this truck? Thanks! Got some pictures,

It looks like a really nice original truck that is very solid. Even with the front end damage, it would be worth at least $3500 or so, in my opinion. The worst part is that new paint on the front fenders won't match the rest.

That's a great survivor and a nicely optioned truck. Too bad about the careless fool hitting it. Not too bad,though. I had a similar thing happen. My '55 car was parked in front of the in-law's (just visiting) and their trash man hit it on the front like that. Didn't stop to own up to it either.

for a reference, I paid 2500$ for this one and have Never regretted it. ...and the body on the one your are looking at is better . ....... the 2 dented fenders could be good justification to make a 67 clone out of it. ... if you found 67 fenders for front you could fill in rear marker holes. just my .o2 cent thought on it. .... but I have nothing against marker lights.
all that truck needs from day one of purchase is a different wheel/tire/hubcap combo. jmo. ... I found the CST emblems for our 67's doors, but still need misslelock on the correct mirrors like the one you posted have. thanks for posting all the pictures of it. ...kent

I thought the same but someone told me it's 67 that they were standard with CST, 68 was an option even with CST.
My thought is the truck is worth at least $2,000 if the frame checks out. Looks like a decent hit, check the frame before you get too far. Even if it's tweaked a little you can probably get it straightened.

I think the real question is how much is it going to take to fix it. Its a VERY NICE TRUCK!!! Worth between $2200 and $3000 only because of the lack of rust and reallly on the low end of that number I feel. Now you are going to have atleast $1000 in repair parts and then whatever you spend on paint and body. That truck probably would not fetch over $5500 (im being generous)with a fresh paint job so start your math from there. $5500-$1000 parts-$2000 paint= $2500. So........I think between $1500 and $2500 you would be alright?
What do you all think?

I do not care how much you paid. Its great looking truck and depending on what your using it for. I would just find some fenders spray them black for now and drive it. Wont cost you alot. Though here in Cali parts are alot easier to come buy.

I would also say around the $2000 dollar mark. Offer the cat $1500 and see what he says. It is a nice rust free well optioned truck. But the damage changes all that.

I am scared to comment, last time I commented on a truck you were looking at I ended up with it in my garage! Still love driving it.
It is worth more in parts than as a whole truck. I would think it was worth $4500 before the damage as they are only original ONCE. To fix that damage is probably $1500, so I would say $3000. Too bad the FR fender trim is damaged, I could use a new piece!

I'm not sure what the question is, but I would pay good money for that truck as it sits. Sure it would cost some money to "undo" the damage but it still is a very nice truck.
Please don't part it out. I get tired of hearing people talk about parting complete drivable trucks out. I hope people realize that someday there won't be many nice trucks left for us to enjoy for our hobby. We should try to preserve our heritage and history of our trucks. Sorry for the rant! Keith |

Interesting truck. I'm suprised it's not a white face grill. That's about the only other 68CST blue bench seat I've seen besides mine.
Looks like a pretty nice original truck to me. Similar in condition to mine. I'd say it was a 5000-6000 dollar truck before it got damaged. What kind of shape are the 327 and transmission in? It's tough to say how much it would be to get it repaired. As mentioned you could go on the cheap and get it in driveable condition without too much trouble.

I found this truck by mistake, surfing the net I came across this add so I became a member and messaged him, he gets back to me within minutes to tell me he still has it and that he was on business in Lake Louise, 2hrs from Calgary, this guy lives 2400 miles from here! Because I work at the airport here in Calgary I asked him when he was flying out and if he would like to meet before his flight, so we did!
The owner is looking to get 3k or best offer, I was thinking even at 3k it seems to be a good deal! Ever since I sold my 50th to northerngmc I have been trying to find another truck that hasn't been molested and still had its original paint. Let me tell you how hard it is to find something that is that CLEAN for 3k, heck some people want 2k for rust free cabs! I go looking on Craig list, eBay, kijiji, etc, only to find a lot of rusted out junk for $2500 and up. The only problem with this truck is that it’s so far away from me. The owner assures me that this truck is in excellent running condition and still drives fine after the accident. He has rebuilt the carb, replaced all the coolant hoses and converted the AC to 134a so it’s not like it has been neglected. He also is willing to send me some video of it running/driving. Now I know most of you are thinking this guy is nuts, maybe I am but trucks like this don't come around too often for us Canadians. Also working for Canada's largest airline, I get my flights very cheep! Heck, maybe some of you would be willing to put me up for the night as I make my trip north, LOL!

I agree. I get a kick out of people who say "Don't part it out, it's too nice" Other than a show truck in perfect shape, there is no such thing IMO. Nice parts come from nice trucks. People would much rather buy nice parts than rusty junk, nice parts sell easier and for more money, and you are contributing to the survival of other trucks. It is a win-win situation.
