gas cap help
What are the differences in the gas caps over the years? I notice that they have a few different ones. (none for a 72) will a 68 work on a 72?
hum, this is kind of confusing i need a painted gas cap for a 72!

i never realized that they ever changed how the gas cap looked but i think a 68 and 72 gas cap would function the same. so the 68 cap would fit fine. only one way to tell though just put it on there and see.

I believe 67 thru 71 are the same, 72 is differnt, just a little smaller around the latching part. Hey high boy-04, what part of kansas are you from, I'm in coffeyville.

I think 68 - 70 was the same, and then in 71 they went to a vented cap...maybe I have that backwards..either way, there is a function differance.

Yes highboy-4, I have, use to work for the railroad that went thru there, was there many times back in the 70s and early 80s.

According to Classic Truck magazine, I have a rarity on my '69...which is the original chrome gas cap. Never thought much about it, but that's what THEY said.

Actually, all CST trucks had a bright fuel cap when they were new.
If it is in fact a 34 year old cap, that is the rare part. It is probably like the one i have on my truck...from auto zone. |
