Flux-core welders are ok if you don't mind doing alot of grinding. Mig welders are the only way to go when it comes to body work. I use a Lincoln SP-125. It's a standard 115 volt also.

You can weld sheet metal with a flux core welder......but it takes some patience! I have welded the sheet with an AC stick welder(that took a little practice!) Also like Randy said, you will do a lot more grinding. I run an sp100 Lincoln for the tin, but on the heavy stuff, it doesnt have enough "juice". i still use the old Lincoln stick welder for any bumper or chassis brackets. Good luck, crazyL

It's not much more for a mig welder.Local welding supply shops have small bottles of gas that are reasonable. The gas will last quite awhile doing sheet metal.Just remember to turn it off.
