o2 sensor question!

When i put headers on my truck (1994 tbi 5.7) a few months back i didnt hool the o2 up but i never had prpblems with the truck...til it got cold...now it runs terrible in the mornings...and most of the day...in park or neutral it will idle and rev fine..but in drive it spits sputters has no power and here recently now the kick down wont work..it just stays the same speed and i have a ton of trouble getting it to 60 on the highway and i have never had any problems before this...the obvious is the o2 sensor but is there anything else i should look for? Or is it the o2 causing me this headache.....

If you put headers on it you should use a heated o2 sensor, and I can’t remember which year heated o2 sensors came on trucks from the factory. How many wires are there going to the o2 sensor.

If by it won’t “kick down” you mean the transmission won’t down shift with heavy throttle application, then you should test the TPS.

Hmm..ill test that...it has 3 wires so im guessing its the heated sensor..it has true duals..i have heard everything from now i need 2 02 sensors...to i need a crossover and mount it there...and some say i just need the one where the bung in the header is...any help there? the kick down was working til my cousin crossed the hot wire and o2 sensor read wire to try and "trick" it...but since then the kick-down hasnt work...i uncrossed the wires and still nothing...it is running beyond terrible and i am very frustrated with it....

If it has a three wire o2 sensor, it is heated.

One o2 sensor is enough.

Crossing the wires at the o2 sensor trying to trick the system my have damaged the computer.

Check all the fuses. If the fuses are good you better do some scan tool testing on the PCM (computer).
