Antiblingification

I finally got a stock 71-72 grille to replace the ghetto-billet-bling-thing that's been humiliating the front of my truck for the past ten years, but I'm having a little trouble with the attach points. Square holes that attach to square holes? Anyone have a photo of the nutplates and whatever kind of square hole filler I'm missing?

My truck thanks you in advance.

Re: Antiblingification

Domeier, I'll try to get you a photo but I think I know what you're talking about...and I saw some at the local Napa/Reibes yesterday when I was picking up new plastic panel clips for the doors. They look like square plugs and work like a drywall anchor...

Re: Antiblingification

you take the plastic things and push them through the plastic inner into the outer and then screw the screw in to tighten. i bought mine from classic parts for like $5 a set.

Re: Antiblingification

Thanks for the help, friends. I hit 4 parts stores but couldn't find the right ones. I wound up using stainless bolts and washers, with nylon spacers between the inner and outer grille. I'm so PSYCHED to have a normal face again! I'll get some pictures up tomorrow, after I get the bumper back on.

You're right. That sounds like a good excuse for taking a ride in the hills tomorrow, instead of raking leaves. "But baby, I have to change my avatar!"

Looks great! On a side note; what did you do with your old billet one? I might be interested in it for a non truck purpose...

There was a guy on here a while back that had an almost perfect blue C/20 that he was trying to sell and it had one of those ugly-ass billets on there. I asked why he didn't have the original on there and he said he didn't like plastic grills....

Re: Antiblingification

Here's the old blingface grille: Also got rid of the 4" lift and picked up a set of 15x8 rallys. I am officially a grumpy old man now.

Domeier - Much, much better. You don't have to be a "Grumpy Old Man" to appreciate the stock look!
