So what year dash bezels are the same. The one that came out of my 79 is different than the one I picked up to replace it. The replacement being a lot thicker on the mounting edge. thanks

I am pretty sure it is 73-74, 75-77, 78-80, 81-83, 84-87 (88 on the Blazer/Sub?CC), then 89-91.

Yes and no. The 73-4 bezel is very similar to the 75-77 bezel, except the windshield wiper switch is lit with a fiber optic cable, rather than a bulb. Other than that, they are the same. The 78-80 bezel has a little different grain, and the gauges are outlined, but it will physically interchange. 81-83 will only work with the later dash pad, but has a windshield wiper hole in the bezel. 84-87 looks like the 81-83, except the light switch is moved up, and there is no wiper hole. 89-91 suburban has a 1 1/2 DIN radio, and was available in woodgrain also. You can use the older bezels with the newer dash, but not the other way around (from my experience).

Ok so i have to find a 73-80be bezel for my 79 then. The other dash i have must be a newer one then
