Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Well, the Trailblazer SS headers from Kooks "fit" I guess you could say... Keven had to take a little of the driver side motor motor mount (which he'll strengthen back up during tear-down) & he'll have to take a little off a piece of the block that sticks out on the passenger side, but they should work out.
They do look really nice on there though!!! |

Hard to see kinda, but here's the cross-over set-up Keven fab'd up between the fuel rails behind the intake.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Here's a shot of the F.A.S.T. injector pigtails Keven had to wire into my Mast harness for the EV1 style injectors. You can see he had to cut away the insulation wrap - he'll re-do all that & has some high speed billet clamps for all the wiring & stuff to dress it up during final assembly.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
A little off topic from my build for just a sec....
I had attempted to buy my Daughter a truck once before, but it was a little more rusty than I wanted & of course the wife objected... I finally found one locally & it's now sitting comfortably in my garage!!! It's a '79 SWB - currently no motor or trans in it, but that's Ok - already had plans for that!!! Bodies in decent shape & it already has the style of mirrors I wanted. It's an A/C truck, so I'll re-do that & get it working for her eventually. She'll be 13 in February, so I've got 3 years to build it with her so she has it for her first car!!! Once I get home in May for vacation we'll do some work on it & I'll post a new thread just for it. Planning on doing a small static drop with 16" Wheel Vintiques Series 66 wheels - she wants them powder coated red - and then maybe go flat black with the body or something. |

Well if you make her truck as nice as your crew cab then it will probably be her first and last vehicle!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Fuel tank is back at Mario's shop from the media blaster so he'll be painting it this week - that is if he can get the heavy thing into the paint booth... Hopefully he'll send along some pics so I can get 'em posted!

Glad you got it 3 years in advance. I got mine on the last day I was 14 and it was still not enough time. 16 and licensed and it's not ready yet

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Fuel tank is in the booth!!! Here it is in acid etch primer & he's working on the sealer as I type this. Feel sorry for him having to move that hurking thing around in the shop - look at the chains holding it up....

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Thanks - that tank is actually the second one they built - first was much plainer & didn't have the kick-out over the rear axle so it was less volume. I've lightened the front end considerably & with this extra weight out back it should aid the weight distribution & traction.
I am really trying to having done the right way in the beginning as I only want to do this process once!!! Appreciate all the comments - keep checking back - hoping to have more pics this week! |

No, I already have the LED headlights from Truck Lite & they match the front LED light bar & rear bumper LED lights exactly. That is a different look though!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Well, here's the fuel tank finally in black!!!
It's still wet in this pic & Mario says that it'll flatten out nicely in about 8 hrs. of drying time. Should match my frame & other parts really well! This is the same color he'll end up doing my hood stripes & engine bay in too. |
