long bed fleet to short bed fleet
I was thinking of turning my short bed step side into a short bed fleet side and while searching for a bed I noticed that the long beds are more easy to find than short beds. How heard would it be to convert a long bed into a short bed (just the bed not the frame)?

Re: long bed fleet to short bed fleet
The bed itself is easy. You can take a section out of the front and rear for ease, or take some out of the front/rear/wheel well to make it "right". plus the stake pocket, but the lines are there.
i think it's 12" front, 8" rear, but I will double check. This?

Re: long bed fleet to short bed fleet
Since the beds have the same lines front to rear it wouldn't be hard if you take your time and have some welding abilities.

Buy the CD from Trucks TV or download it. This will save a lot of head scratching. Do a search as there was a discussion in the last 30 days.

Re: long bed fleet to short bed fleet
look at the old blue pro touring in the projects section, he made his lwb shorter than a lwb but still slightly longer than a swb and its the perfect look, kind of a mwb.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...9&postcount=74 remember that the wheel arches are slightly different between long and short, so the cognoscenti will relish pointing out your ruse.

Re: long bed fleet to short bed fleet
several ways to skin the cat - if you can find the Trucks! episodes where they did this to a longbed C10 - and did it very well, it's worth watching. I looked recently and couldn't find the individual episodes for free online - but here's the DVD that spends about 15 minutes on how to cut the bed. I bought it just because I enjoyed the series for this 66 C10 and wanted to watch it through without commercials. An option if you can't find the episodes online for free... http://www.powerblockswag.com/Trucks...hevyc10dvd.htm

The last time I looked, you could buy each episode on itunes. I think it was $2 or $2.20.

Re: long bed fleet to short bed fleet
The wheel opening is larger on the lwb. I cant remember if it is 1.5 or 3.0 inches. On lowered trucks with big wheels, it looks really good.
