lights
i have a 1986 GMC 2500. when i turn the head lights on, the left turn signal light on the dash is light up when i turn the turn signal on to the left i dont get a flashing light on the truck or on the dash.
2nd, the left side head light works but the left side running light does not work when you turn the brights on its the opposite anybody got any suggestions? |

You need to check all of the grounding at the lights. When the ground is bad, the current seeks a path to ground. If it finds one through another bulb, that's the way it goes and the light glows.

There is a ground wire on each light, most of which go into the harness and to a common ground connection either on the body or the block. The headlights usually have their own ground going to the body.

Yea been awhile since I mess around with headlight wiring but that sounds about right to me. I was going to say I have seen this problem before and its been bad wiring I would start there and see what you can figure out.

I had the same problem before, when I turned on the headlights the left blinker indicater would glow. It was the ground wire for the left front running light/blinker, it broke. I reconnected it and problem solved.

well i cleaned up all the ground wires and what not and still nothing i got board and for kicks i removed the light switched bought a new one and good as new everything works, Thanks Guys.
