Re: 1984 Chevy Crewcab 4x4 Conversion build
Well I've really been stuck on this thing, the paint bummed me out, the doors are trash... the drivetrain isn't what I want, the chassis needs painted and cleaned up, I'm not sure what bumpers to run, blah blah blah. So I have had one hit on the doors for the suburban, I said 100 for all 4 and the guy never replied. So I'm thinking power doors in the crew cab.... After that I am not sure what I will do... The tranny in my other crewcab is bad so I may pull this one and put it in there to get it finished.... But I hate to have this one not running... It's heavy to move around the yard hahaa.

Re: 1984 Chevy Crewcab 4x4 Conversion build
Hey everyone! Well I'm back to working on this one, while doing work for the farm and another project for myself. Ill have pics up tomorrow. I'm pulling the drivetrain, freshening up the big block and bolting a nice sm465 to it (if My friend ever gets it out of his truggy). I'm gonna finally clean up my shackle issues front and rear. I'll clean up the chassis as good as I can without pulling the body. And I'll be doing a full tan interior (all trim pieces etc). I'll Also being building a center console and covering it with vinyl I believe. Not sure yet on that one. But like I said I'll start getting some pictures up!

Sounds like a plan man. I want to see more pictures of this thing! You will have fun rowing through the gears with the SM465.

Re: 1984 Chevy Crewcab 4x4 Conversion build
Yeah especially with a pretty black chassis and clean engine bay and interior! That suburban interior is being put to good use... I might go with black paint, carpet, console, and seats and charcoal everything else..
But I'm taking it one step at a time. First step is the engine. The shop will be full up with a tractor I have to split, so engine is about all I can work on. I'll maybe get the cab stripped the rest of the way and ready for paint. Once it's painted it will pretty much just be through the interior together and that's done... Here's how you work on a lifted truck... I got my other crew about done. So then I might be able to spend some time on this one every so often... Just need some $ Posted via Mobile Device |

Looking good man. I like how you lowered it to pull the motor haha. Interior sounds like a good plan, kinda sounds close to some ideas that I have for mine we must have some really similar tastes in trucks haha. I want to start diving back into my truck again but I got stuff I gotta pay off.

Re: 1984 Chevy Crewcab 4x4 Conversion build
Your pic brings back memories. I used to have to set my front axle and rear axle on blocks so the rotors were almost on the ground when I was working on my 76. Lifting an 1100lb engine really high gets nerve wracking. Nice progress man!

Yeah and when people say ah just pull the tranny and t-case mated... Haha yeah right! My cherry picker barely could get the big block over the core support.

Re: 1984 Chevy Crewcab 4x4 Conversion build
You've got a really excellent build going. I loved reading about it! Couple of questions: Are those wheels 17x8 or 17x9? How much lift do you have on it? I read where you said you have 6" in the suspension and a 2" body lift but it also says 10" lift in your signature. Thanks for the help!

Re: 1984 Chevy Crewcab 4x4 Conversion build
2 body
Front is 6" springs and will have longer shackles Rear is 6" blocks, and 4" shackle flip So I just averaged it out at 10" haha. Posted via Mobile Device |
