Just my $.02, I'd put the beauty rings back on and though I genuinely like the hubcaps that were on it, I'd put the correct pointy '57-59 caps. Those rock. If you want ot jazz it a touch, paint the steelies some other color. Orange, a soft yellow, something.

SUCH a damn nice looking truck!
Dan, the rear springs are standard eye 4" drop mono leafs I purchased from Brothers & had them loaded in the back with a set of Cokers (W/walls are so expensive here in oz), I basicaly did a sh*t load of shopping over the net & had everything throw'n in the back while awaiting shipping out of long beach.
When I brought the truck I kinda estimated that it would need atleast 3" drop to get it level just by looking at pictures. Caps & trims will be going back on I just need to increase the back spacing on the rear rims by 3/4" as there is slight contact on the rear fenders atm.

Re: 59 Apache just arrived to Australia!

Red,
Thanks for the info. Sounds absolutely right on to increase the backspacing but if I may suggest (if they aren't already) that you reverse the rear rims when you have the backspacing modified. I truly liek the cap you had on it. Please post more pictures when you get all this work done!

G'day Red, that's a lovely ride you have there for an interim truck! Looks cool with the whites. Great forward planning on your behalf getting all the extras thrown into the back.

Scored myself a corvette the other day! Have to show it to you sometime.

Regards,

Trently.

Re: 59 Apache just arrived to Australia!

Thankyou all!!! because of the zero clearance on the rear tyres, currently removed the rear wheels, sending them off to a wheel works to have the back space increased 3/4", hate it when things don't go to plan

Re: 59 Apache just arrived to Australia!

Well got the wheels back, I decided to back space them a total inch just to be safe, sent them off for powder coating again in lite beige & re fitted tyres.
There now perfect no rubbing & surprisingly ride really nice!

Here's a couple of early morning shots at my place before venturing to a car show yesterday with my mates Steve 71 GMC & Rossco 64 C10.

Beautiful trucks! Any chance you live in or near Niddrie? Our daughter lived there and I'm pretty sure my wife saw the blue truck when she visited. She tried to get a photo but wasn't able to.

Niddrie is in the western suburbs of Melbourne, were in the sth east approx 45mins from there, in saying that I wouldn't be suprised if thats the truck your wife saw, there arn't too many pre 65s here let alone in blue, Ross is an ashphalter so he may have been working out there.

I really like your 59. How are you doing on your 56 GMC? Is it back on the road? It looks rust free, got to love trucks from California. I lived out there from 85-91, lots of rust free iron still out there.

GMC is still down to a bare chassis, was ment to be on the road by this Christmas (our summer) but more likely late next year hopefully. Anyway here's a close up pic of my 59 taken at a show a couple of weeks ago, found it on a Australian forum, how come I cant take picks like that??
