Some builds run on forever, so I decided to wait until the drawn out stuff was done. I put alot of info on here in a short time, instead of boring everyone to death. Now that Christmas is over, I will be cranking out some more additions to the truck. |

Re: Legacy build
Judging by the rest of the blazer, I figured that is what happened. I did not find one bearing in the thing that had any signs of water dammage though. Things did not add up, it was a wreck from the outside, but had alot of recent high dollar parts installed. Makes my head hurt to try to figure it all out.

It is possible it was a flood victim. The gears would wear faster than the bearings so it may have only been driven for a short time after the water incident. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Legacy build
I have had a chance to drive the truck quite a bit lately. Took it to Goodguys this weekend, which was alot of fun. After having several passengers, I came to the realization that I hang out with short, fat, or old people.
Before someone gets hurt, or my truck gets hurt, some sort of steps were in order. I parused the web, and did not find what I wanted. I hit the local steel yard, fired up the welder, and blew the dust off of the bender. The results came out pretty good, but I like it better without them... |

Re: Legacy build
Thanks guys!
Next week I think I am going to draw up a roll bar. I want it to fit the contour of the cab exactly, but still have that old school look to it. I have the Bend tech pro software, but sometimes it loses something in the translation( brain to software, or software to bender). I have not decided if I want it to sandwich the bed rails (sit on top of the bed) or run to the floor, and tie plate to the frame. Both otions will tie to the frame, just the first one will sandwich the rails. It's one of those " Hope I never need it, but be nice to have a functional one if I do". I have a F@#D that needs one too, maybe I'll guinea pig that truck first |

The rollbar sounds interesting, can't wait to see it the way the other bar turned out.

Re: Legacy build
Thanks everyone!
Looks like we are going to get three days of something called rain I hear it is wet stuff that falls from the sky, so no bending I will try to get the roll bar drawn up, and set up in Bend tech. Maybe do some bending next weekend. |

Re: Legacy build
Finally got some tube bent! I was having issues getting around the tire in the bed, so I went a different route. I am going to build some supports that will sandwich the bed rails, and bolt to the floor. I may or may not tie them to the frame.
So... It is now a "light bar" as opposed to a "roll bar". It may also possibly be a large heavy hunk of junk bolted to my truck. My redneckery approves of it though. Sorry for the cell phone pics, kinda blurry. |

Re: Legacy build
Do I even attempt a Hickey style winch bumper? The common concensus (around here anyway) is, "keep going, and you're gonna F it up!"
I can not stop messing with it! There are a hundred things not finished on it, but I am not content with the outward look |

Re: Legacy build
Very nice work on the new roll bar. You are too modest about your fab skill. You got it goin on for sure.
congrats on the first trophy! your truck definetly deserves it. I bet it looks even better in person than the pics. |

The inside of the cab is shot with Al's liner. Although Al"s is a great bed liner, if I had to do it again I'd use Lizard skin on the inside. Lizard skin is water based, and a much better insulator (so I've been told). It's hard to get the Al's hopper in the corners of the cab. By the time I was finished shooting, the liner was setting up. Lizard skin uses a siphon gun with a hose. Al's is also puts off very bad fumes, not so with Lizard skin. |
