Factory 2 tone paint job's
Hello everyone I'm new to this form and I have a few questions about my truck its a 1969 GMC Longhorn that I picked up recently . Has anyone seen this colour combo on a original factory truck paint job? The outside and inside are both 2 tone. The interior has maroon door skins, glove box and seat belt retractor cover that are the same as the outside colour

Re: Factory 2 tone paint job's
Cool truck - is there a spid on the inside of the glove box door? Have you looked to see if there is a build sheet in the springs on the back of your bench seat or underneath?

Re: Factory 2 tone paint job's
I think that is a dana 44 rear. The truck has been converted to 1/2 to at some point in its life. Longhorns were 3/4 and one ton. I would also guess the center color on your truck was added. Gmc did color match interior parts. Nice looking truck and welcome.
Also, what is your fender emblem?

Re: Factory 2 tone paint job's
^ x2. Welcome to the board! That's a sharp truck you have there and by what has been done, quite unique. I believe the maroon paint was an added touch by a previous owner. GM never offered that color combo and if it were original, both colors would be listed. The mirrors are '72 type also. In '69 GM used that dark red/maroon color. Since your truck is a Custom the floor mat is also that dark red. GM interior trim pieces in most colors weren't a 100% match...just close. It's not an intentional 2-tone scheme. Actually, your truck left the factory as a monotone...red on red. GMC painted the glovebox door and instrument panel in the interior trim color. If your interior was black those pieces would be painted black. A previous owner basically made the exterior match the interior,by captalizing on the variation of interior shades. .

Re: Factory 2 tone paint job's
Good looking truck and color combo. My brother had a 77 chevy silverado that was painted like that, always loved that color combo. I tried to find a pic of a square body with those colors for comparison, but no luck, guess they are kind of rare. Joseph

Re: Factory 2 tone paint job's
Since all longhorns were 3/4 or one ton, they would have 8 lug wheels. Yours looks to have 6 lug. (which would be 1/2 ton) It looks like an option on your glovebox tag also showed 8 lug wheels. The 920 on the fender would be a canadian 3/4 ton.

Welcome from Calgary! The fender badge for a Canadian 69 1/2 ton would have been GMC 910. Nice truck!

Re: Factory 2 tone paint job's
Disc brakes came out in 71 on pickups. He must have found a kit somewhere for the conversion since the disc brakes would be 5 lug starting in 71. It is a nice looking conversion on your truck.

Welcome from Western Canada. That's a great clour combo - very unique. I've seen it on post 1972's but never before then.
